SOURCE: engine management light volvo s40 problem

The best thing is to go to your local Volvo maintenance shop or Volvo experts to find out whats the problem..usually the coomon ones I think is the programs inside its ECU unit..you try this..ask the volvo experts to reset the ECU and lets see..if problem arise then it is no doubt you might need the sensor..hope this help..

Where is the ecu located? 2000 Volvo S40

An engine control unit (ECU), also known as power-train control module (PCM), or engine control module (ECM) is a type of electronic control unit that determines the amount of fuel, ignition timing and other parameters an internal combustion engine needs to keep running. It does this by reading values from multidimensional performance maps (so called LUTs), using input values (e.g. engine speed) calculated from signals coming from sensor devices monitoring the engine.

HELLO,I OWN A S4O VOLVO,THAT STUMBLES ON ACCELERATION & LOSES POWER PLEASE CAN YOU HELP!!!!

the may be caused by a misfire, the first thing to do is scan the computer for any stored codes as these codes can help a great deal, so start with the scanning first, auto zone and some other part stores will scan it for free ,just write down the codes and we will go from there.
