Hopefully, you don't have severe engine damage. It has to be changed of course. It is a pretty hard job I am afraid. As far as how to do it, because of all the steps and timing procedures, it is best to buy a Haynes book for your car or let a professional do it. Any other questions, please contact me. I am here to help in anyway I can.

Grinding noise In idle, sounds like coming from the lower timing chain cover, when I excelerate it goes away.I am receiving multiple misfire.the car is not stalling out.its on a 2002 kia sportage.replaced...

Oil pump, timing chain slipper/idler pulley bearings, accessory drive belt idler, could be a lot of things, this may sound silly but with the vehicle in park engine idling pour a cup or bottle of water on the drive belt and see if it goes away, if it does have the belt replaced and check the idler and tensioner pulley bearings. Good luck hope this helps you out.

Was driving down road and car started making a funny noise like a belt broke so I pulled over and car cut off and now will not start but dose turn over

If the timing chain broke; your cylinders will not hold pressure because the valves letting air in to your cylinders would be bent. Have the cylinders checked for holding pressure. If your timing chain broke; you will need another engine used or new.

Car died while driving

The cam chain or the cam itself broke. I would start by looking at the cam chain. If the cam chain was noisy before this happened, then more than likely the chain has snapped.
