I have a 2002 Inifiniti I35 with the same problem. I jiggled some wires under the seat and it worked one time, but then no more.

I have a 2003 I-35 with the drivers seat forward and back motor needing replacement. Dealer says only one of the motors needs to be replaced for about $700.

Any one know if this motor is availabe other than from the dealer?

    Thanks

This is a seat slide motor assembly problem. I worked for an Infiniti dealer for many years as a service advisor, and this was a common issue on these vehicles. Most of the time you can take the **** end of a screwdriver and tap on the motor from the front of the seat and it should start working. It may work for a while but it will most certainly stop, how soon depends on how far gone it is. Eventually it will quit working altogether and tapping it won't work either. As a service advisor we probably replaced a hundred of those things. Last I knew the part was about 280.00 and about an hour labor. I would not take it to someone who doesn't really know Infiniti though as you may get the car back with an air bag light flashing or something. Dealers really don't try to rip people off, they generally want to do the right thing as they want you to come back for all your problems, keep that in mind.

Our 2002 has had this problem twice. The first time, we removed the 4 bolts holding down the seat, and jiggled the seat - it started working on it's own. The second time, the seat was too far back to get to the rear 2 bolts. We removed the front 2 bolts and tried to tap the motor - to no avail.... Later that day, the seat started to move again - but one side was stuck, and it seemed to have stripped a gear. Now it looks like a trip to the dealer...

Pingman37. 2004 G35 with stuck drivers seat. I tapped the motor and it now works. Someone said it was the relay and not the motor. What do you think? replacing the motor and arm doesn't look too complex. It looks like three screws near the motor on the far right, disconnect from the rail and disconnect the rear. I could do this.

Can I inquire as to whether or not the dealership was able to fix it or did they have to replace the motor? Was this a double digit repair or a triple digit repair? Thank you very much.

SOURCE: The drivers seat is stuck.

I'm assuming this is a power seat. If so, there are separate motors that control the various functions of the seat such as forward/backard, recline, lumbar support, etc. It could be that the motor or an electrical connection to the motor for the forward/backward motion is faulty. Normally all of the motors would be on the same power circuit, so if some of the functions are working then it is probably not a blown fuse.

Just one other personal observation, I have actually seen an instance where some loose pocket change had spilled under the seat and a quarter had become wedged in the track that the seat slides in and had jammed the tracks so tightly that the seat would not move.

One thing to note is whether or not you hear anything when you try to move the seat forward/backward. If you hear a click or a buzz when you press the button then that could mean that something is physically jamming the seat tracks. If you don't hear anything when you press the button, then that more than likely means a problem with the motor or the electrical connection to the motor.

SOURCE: Driver's seat unable to move forward or backward

There are plastic gears connecting the track to the seat assembly. Whne one of these strip the seat will only work or move to one side. Infiniti does not sell a simple fix. You are looking at buying an entire seat assembly complete with the module for all the electronics. It will be at a cost of around $950 - $1000. Once that is in, Infiniti must program the seat to the brain of the car, only then can you reset your memory settings.

MY DRIVERS SIDE POWER SEAT WONT GO BACK OR FORWARD BUT ALL OTHER PARTS OF THE SEAT WORK FINE I CAN HEAR SOMETHING CLICKING WHEN I TRY TO MOVE THE SEAT BUT THE SEAT WONT GO BACK OR FORWARD

Check under the seat for broken wires. Forward and backwards is the function most used and causes the wires to bend back and forth. you may need to remove the seat for inspection or you may be lucky and see the problem just by raising the seat as high as it will go.

2009 impala driver side power seat won't move up/down, makes whirring sound when attempted. Moves forward backward. Passenger seat works properly.

Before you do any of the expensive things disconnect and reconnect the wiring to the seat I had the same exact problem with my 2009 Chevy Impala and was ready to take it to the dealer when I disconnected the power cables to it and reconnected them I found that one of the Harnesses was loose and the problem was solved

Drivers seat 2000 outback

So here is a diagram of the seat circuitry for your car. Since every other function works except the forward/backward slide function, that leaves basically the forward/backward slide motor, the seat switch, and/or the wiring. If you can verify that the wiring under the seat is in good condition without obstructions, chaffed wires, and/or wires pulled too tight, then it's safe to say it's down to just the motor and/or the switch. Sometimes if the passengers front seat has the same switch, you can plug it in to the drivers' side connector and see what works and what doesn't. If the seat works fine with the other switch, then that's all it needs, if not then it will need a motor. If the other seat doesn't have a switch then you can find them at wrecking yards, or just supply power and ground to the motor in question to see if it works. If it does, then you know you kneed a switch and if not then a motor.
I hope this info helps!~subyguru~

Hi everyone I own a CLK200 Kompressor 2002 model. I have the following problem, driver seat moving forward when pressing backward function on the power seat button. I already checked the fuse in the trunk...

First try as fallow, get in to the seat, then keep tight your foot on floor and give a good press backward to the seat and operate the seat switch towards back, just release and do it again keep going that way it will start to move back words, if it start to move do it few time and do it every time you get in to the car at least two time per day continue it for one week, It will be OK otherwise need chassis no for more information,
