You need to remove the shift handle first...key must be on...no need to start...pull shift lever down to low gear...look on the back side of the knob...you should see a u-shaped clip head...pry gently under the u-shape with a scredriver to begin removal...then use needle nose pliers to completely pull the clip out...after this is removed...you will be able to kift the shifter knob off...Don't know if you mean replace shift knob...(known for breaking) or actual metal shift lever...if you need the shifter arm, your best find would be at your local salvage yard...some will remove for you...some will let you find your model and remove yourself...To re-install put the shift knob back on the shift lever...to lock in place then re-insert the u-clip to lock in place...Many good mechanics are not familiar with removing these shift knobs...Hope this helps.

check fuses, if it wont shift to 2nd,

only the Fluid is different and the stick shift has a foot clutch and it can go bad too.

1999 honda accord cant get it to shift into neutral so I can tow it

Auto or manual? As always , auto , use the gear release tab located on the gear lever. Its covered and you will need a small flat blade to open it. Once open, use the flat blade to press the white tab down and at the same time shift the gear lever to N

My battery is dead and I can't move the car due to the auto gear shift stuck in park. How do I move the car to get a jump on the battery?

if you look on the center council where the shift lever is you will see a small plastic button on the drivers. Remove the button. Insert a small screwdriver into the hole and push down. You will then be able to move the shift lever into nuetral and push the car.

95 SATURN HOW TO TIGHTEN A GEAR SHIFT LINKAGE

I take it that you have a standard transmission ? there is no adjustment, but on the saturns the plastic insert on the shifter lever (remove the center console) is what breaks, Napa auto parts has the replacement part for about $20, or you can go to saturn and spend $200 on replacing both cables

Shifting lever doesnt want to come out of park

This is a problem that occurs in many Honda's. Inside the shifter is a cable that is connected to the button to release the shift lock so you can shift into a gear. This cable become frayed and can eventually brake, which makes it hard to shift. The only solution is to replace the shifter either with a new OEM from Honda (very expensive) or get a good used one from your local recycle yard.
