Potentially bad news; when ours started getting quirky, delaying before engaging, it finally lost reverse too.
~$4000 from a Saturn shop or $3000 for independent. After good referrals, we used the independent and the tranny held for 27,000 miles until the engine blew at 56,700 miles; it dropped a rod cap. I 'sold' it to my son for $1. The worst car I have ever owned and my first US car in 35 years- it is also my LAST.

Transmission shop is your only answer, parts are only required to be available for 10 years from the production date. Since that company also folded you are out of luck

WANT TO PUT A 1996 LS -1 SATURN, MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND MOTOR INTO A 1995 LS-2 SATURN BODY AND CHASSIS. WILL I HAVE TO CHANGE THE COMPUTER? DOES THE DESIGN CHANGE FROM 95 TO 96 EVEN MAKE IT POSSIBLE...

There isn't much difference between them. The SL series didn't change between 95 and 96 except for the ecm is OBD2 on the 96. Are both cars stick shift? The difference in the SL1 and the SL2 are the cams. 1 for sohc and 2 for dohc. So what you are asking is can I take out my dohc motor and install a sohc motor right?

MY 95 SATRUN SL2 SHIFTS HARD JUST HAVING PUT A

It's possible, especially if the used trans sat unused for a while. When you change the filter, make sure that the trans has fresh, proper fluid.

My saturn sl2 is shifting hard on his bad days

Yes, with another transmission...they have a problem with the valve body going bad. Go with a junk yard trany. Just make sure that it has low mileage. $700 is a ball park figure...$700 for labor.

1996 Saturn SL2

What this code means is the trans is slipping, the most likely cause is internal parts failure or shift solenoid issue for 2nd gear, but based on what I know of this code you will end up getting the trans overhauled.
