If no puddles or no keaks you can see, then its probably your head gaskets, or the intake gaskets leaking. look all around intake to see if you see any leaks. if you do its your intake gaskets. how does the coolant look! on my car when the intake gasket was leaking, it made the coolant look milky and a chocolate type mixture. so check it out first, the intake gasket. Coolant may flow through the gasket to the inside of the engine and mix with the oil. Pull the oil dipstick out and look at it. Oil mixed with coolant will have a thick consistency. Examine the oil filter cap for any rusty-looking residue. good-luck.

I started the blazer and it is idleing really rough. then I get a mile down the road and it dies on me. I just replaced the thermostat and fuel filter bc it wont hold antifreeze and keeps overheating. What...

The loss of coolant, overheating and running bad could add up to coolant leaking into the engine. The Dexcool antifreeze used in the GM vehicles has caused gasket failures in the upper air plenum and the lower intake manifold. This could allow the antifreeze to be pulled into the combustion chamber and the oil. If there is no visible external leak, then this is probably what's happening. Sometimes the gasket leak will show up as a very small and difficult to detect puddle somewhere around the gasket/engine mating surfaces. Also look for signs of coolant in the oil. If it has gotten into the combustion chamber, then it has probably ruined the O2 sensors and catalytic converter. The only solution is to pull the upper and lower intakes and replace the gaskets. Change the oil and filter. DO NOT put Dexcool back in the radiator. Use a green antifreeze that is labeled compatible with aluminum engine parts and radiators. Replace the O2 sensor. The catalytic converter might have survived. Get it running first, then worry about the converter. Good luck to you, and try to have a Merry Christmas.

Leeking antfreez by intake gasget

Check that the antifreeze is coming from either a freeze plug which is round and about 1-3/4" in diameter, or the head gasket.

If it's a head gasket, it will have to be replaced.

If it's a hose leading to the intake gasket area, replace that part.

If it's a freeze plug, then a rubber expanding one (with a screw in adjuster) may substitute for the original metal one.

Good luck on this repair.

Intake manfold leaking antfreez

Is it leaking between wear the head and intake mate together? If so you can try retorqing the bolts and see if it stops other wise you will have to replace the intake gasgets.

if your head gasket was bad it would most likely be overheating. your antifreeze usage could be from and intake manifold gasket leak which would cause it to use antifreeze but not overneat. the last possible thing i can think of is that there is a leaky hose that is just pooling up somewhere and not leaving puddles.

Hi, I have a 1998 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4, automatic transmission, has had problems for quite awhile shifting from second to third and now reverse is out. Shifting solenoid? I have the same problem only on the...

This is directed to the secound part of your question.I don't know much about transmissions but i'am sure someone on this site does. Might want to look on the back side of intake to see if there is any signs of the intake gasget leaking. The only other place it could come from is a freeze plug or head gasget but i have never known them to leak from there but its posible. If you got a puddle right under the hole on the inspection cover for flywheel witch is red in color it would be the front pump seal in trans.

It isn't bad, you can handle it. I've done a few of them including my own. What you are describing with the thermostat is normal, Ignore it. But if your intake gasket is leaking, replace it.
