1998 chevrolet prizm.....I smell gas when I'm riding in my car ~ what could be causing this problem?

pedal switch?

Busted lines bad filters bad injectors or the worse cracked injector ports these can all be checked diy just use white glove and feelers with fingers along fuel lines any wetness or smell of gas you found the mark

its just a belt , only question is how to replace it or how to release it.
or did if fall off.?

its not easy. suggest ride with windows open

u need to find out what code the computer is logged. some parts stores like advanced auto i think still reeds codes for free. find out the code. its more then likely an oxygen sensor or somthing in the injection if your smelling gas. although it can be a spark problem causeing the gas smell. dont drive like that u can pass out from the smell. get it to b checked at a shop or check the code at a parts store that does it. hope this helps.

SMALL RED WIRE ON- BATTERY CABLE GOES TO ALTERNATOR.LARGE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE GOES TO STARTER.

SOUNDS LIKE THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR IS SLIGHTLY LEAKING. PULL THE VACUUM HOSE OFF AND SMELL THE OPENING FOR GAS SMELL. CHANGE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.CHECK ENGINE LIGHT MAY BE ON BECAUSE OF O2 SENSOR BEING FLOODED.OTHERWISE, COULD BE A VACUUM LEAK.

The 1st thing to do is find out which one of over 100 codes is stored in the engine computers memory, whenever the check engine light comes on a code for that problem is stored in memory. You can go to any Auto-Zone parts store and they will run this code read test for free, then post them back here and I will help figure out what has gone wrong.
