2001 Chevy S-10 4X4 Ext.Cab pickup , V6 4.3. I am having a problem with my 4wheel drive. We started having bad weather of snow and I went to use my 4Wheel drive and it would not engage into 4HI. But, it will go into 4LO. In order for it to go into 4HI, I have to keep pushing the button about 1-2 minutes and going in and out of N and Ddive until it engages. But when I go back to 2HI, it disengages and the light does not come on. So, I bought a new 4wheel selector switch and the same procedure ocurrs.

check the width of the chassis rails for starters . If the same width then check the cab mount distances . With 9 years between chassis I would think that the chassis will be different
You need to adjust the automatic choke. Your choke may not be opening fully. There is a fast idle cam linked to the choke to keep the throttle open more until the engine is warm. The idle mixture screw is part 37 in the picture, but get the choke adjusted right first, and you may not have to adjust the mixture screw. See adjustment procedures at link beloe.
this is posted in your owners man. i think you need to pull the high beem switch back and then hit the door locks once for on and twice for off depends, i have a crew cab so they have more door unlock lock choices
its a possibility that the transfer case might be going out or the fluids in it are bad sometimes after alot of mileage the tranfer case will slip or stick
Most probably a wheel speed sensor. If you had a scanner you could run the codes and find which one, many time in wet and icy weather they will get a bad connection or the snow and ice get clogged up around them. I hope this helps you! Merry Christmas!
Have you or the dealers checked the plug wires? Often when there is high humidty weak plug wires can cause the engine to miss and this is difficult to diagnose in a shop environment. Modern ignition systems have very high voltage and also worn plugs can cause the voltage to spike. This would let the weak plug wires lose the voltage and cause the engine to miss.
