This is a torque converter circuit performance code not a short or open circuit code.Let me explain what the difference is.The computer commands the clutch inside your torque coverter to apply. Then the system will look for an rpm drop within a specific time.If there is no rpm drop or too slow of a drop or not enough drop , then this code will set.I have seen many things cause this and is rarely the solenoid.Wear in the transmission, valve body and or torque converter is most common problem.Non factory tire size is not unusual. If you can be more specific about year make and model i cam probaly point you in the right direction. Thanks please vote.

This fix comes from the service manager of a Toyota dealer, he is a online expert named Toyota Ed.
Toyota is aware of this situation. Production changes have ocurred to correct this condition.
Here is what you do: Take your vehicle to your Toyota dealer. Tell them that you have a P-0741 code, and you want them to apply "Toyota Technical Service bulletin TC008-04" to your vehicle. They will perform several tests, and if you vehicle is lower than 5 years old, and less than 60, 000 miles, they will fix it for free. This TSB is covered by the Powertrain Warranty. Additionally, Thay may replace the ECU with an updated unit, and that particular warranty is in effect for 96 months or 80,000 miles.
This will definatly cure your issue

This is a torque converter clutch solenoid code internal to the transmission. the computer has detected a fault in the operation of the solenoid. It will need to be diagnosed by a trained technician and may very likely require internal trans repairs.

I have a 2005 Pontiac Vibe and the check engine light starting coming on around 80,000 miles with code P0741 or a code that related to the transmission. I was quoted $2500 to 3500.00 to repair. I decided to change the transaxel fluid and filter
