Child locks were on for a few years - everything worked fine ( i.e. doors opened from outside ok ) - removed the child locks but now both doors are locked closed - cant be opened from inside or out !!! - I have stripped off one of the door panels and can get to the locking mechanism but still cant release the lock in order to open the door. All the linkages are connected ok and I have removed the central locking motor ( which doesn't have deadlocking ) so the only thing that can still be stopping it is the "child lock" lever but I can't see what I can release from within the door to open it. ( I have read about someone else with the same problem - but not found a solution ) hope you can help. Cheers, Paul.
It has nothing to do with the "child lock" It is a know problem in this car, they tend to get caught in lock. Only thing to do, is to take of the panel then the outside handle, and through that hole destroy the plastic covering the lock, a large screwdriver and hammer will do! Then you can release the lock, while you pull the inside release handle. Buy new!
I have a 1.2 3 door 2002 clio with central locking.
The boot door does not lock when i use my key or key fob. Is there another way i can lock the boot?
Managed to open doors by taking off interior panel WD40 had washed grease away from lock- (big mistake-) I put stiff wire bent slightly at end in to back of lock and turned it a few times- which did the trick. Then greased into lock and worked it a few times until lock and solenoid worked freely.

i have the seame problem can anyone help i think renault
should as this is there poor manufacturing
Just have the off-side rear that wont open Have had the panel off alas no joy (1999 1.4 RT)
Thanks for your reply.
You are quite correct, I had to strip down both door panels ( a couple of months ago) and brake into the lock mechanisms from inside in order to open the doors. 2 new mechanisms were needed. All down to crappy plastic bits within the assembly itself. Guy at Renault parts said they sell loads of them. Very poor design. Again, thanks for offering your feedback.
my problem is very similar.. the dammed car won't lock with the key and the zapper is knackered.( the one on the keyfob) . only the boot lock works! .. i am having to lock the car from the inside ( with the use of a stick reaching thru the boot and striking the switch at the gear stick consul ) ) and then locking the bootlid .. looks a bit dodgy when u are in the shopping centre car park .. apparently it is an expensive fix ? .. the car
is only worth between £7-800 ..looks like the stick option is going 2 b around for a while ..
