It feels like gas isn't getting to the engine. sometimes (usually at a complete stop or starting to accelerate) the car hesitates to go and jerks forward. Other times the car is driving along and the check engine light blinks, when this happens the power to then engine feels weak.

Sounds like your spark plugs need replaced. ( long shot answer)

It can be fuel pressure issue or it's the problem with accelerator pedal or its clogged filters causing there.

Check fuel pressure. If good, rebuild carb.

I have a similar problem...when at a stop it jerks in hesitation sometime feeling as if it wants to stall. It also does this when accelerating from stop...it has completely stalled out once when accelerating after switching from reverse to drive, but started right away.

blinking service light indicate multiple active faults on the same circuit it could be several things anything from the throtle position sensor to a v.v.t. code if it is a 4.2 liter take it to a dealer or a better qualified mecanic who understands the problems accocited with this engine

change fuel filter, check fuel flow and preasure.

Im having the same issue I believe. I have a 94\' Chevy 1500 and when i accelerate it will jerk like the gas has cut out but it wont stall. It just jerks and slows me down. It only seems to do it when going up a hill. I feel like it could be the fuel pump or possibly some intake gaskets?

check your ignition timing, looks like firing is advance.

Have you tried changing the spark plugs it sounds like one of the cylinders isn't firing
