The fuel guage could be a faulty fuel sender unit or possibley an electrical fault in the dash.
The only reason I can think of that it won't take gas is that it is full. You could try pulling the filler nozle out a couple of inches when you are trying to add fuel. . They work on back pressure , and if the pressure backs up , the pump handle clicks off.

Fuel guage sometimes read empty when there is gas in the tank?

Check that there are no holes in the float. If the fuel is getting into the float, it will give a false reading. Another thing is to check the ground on the float sensor. If it's not connected tightly, it will create a false reading too.

Chrysler pacifica 2007 cannot put much fuel in at a time. gas guage drops from half tank to empty in seconds

If you can't put much fuel in i's probably not empty! If there is not a big puddle of fuel underneath then your guage is broken.

My gas needle stopped working. how will i know if gas tank is empty. If van sits in park and running the needle drop to E and the low fuel light comes on, then when you drive it goes back to a full tank....

You can take out the part of the dash where the guages are and change the little sensor/fuse behind the fuel guage, they should have a replacement part at orileys or autozone

Just filled the gas tank in my 2006 f-350 turbo diesel super duty (6.0), started the truck and the guage showed a full tank. Drove down the road about 1/10 of a mile and the guage dropped to dead empty...

A loose connection on the sending unit could cause the problem but also moisture in the tank in cold weather could also be a factor in which i would add fuel line antifreeze to a full tank of fuel..........Hope this helps you out.

I have a 2000 mustang and my fuel guage works fine. But 7 gallons fills it up from empty. As I drive the guage travels from full to empty just like it should. I do not have any dents in my tank.

I do not think you have any dents in your tank, nor do I think its empty when the guage indicates that it is.

It is more then likely a fuel level sending unit which is located inside of the tank. They are not fun to replace, empty the gas, drop the tank, and then replace the sensor.

Gas guage not reading accurate

Your sending unit inside of the fuel tank is probably faulty. Unfortunately you have to drop the tank to change it.

Gas guage-oxygen sensor?

The oxygen sensor has nothing to do with the fuel gauge. There are two possibilities for the gas gauge error, first it could be the in-tank gas level sensor or it could be a defective stepper motor which drives the gauge. A professional scan tool can determine the fuel level being sent by the in-tank sensor, if that disagrees with the gauge, then the stepper motor needs replacing.

Fuel gauge showing empty

open circuit in the fuel level sensor. mounted in tank. as the fuel level in the tank starts to drop the arm will move past the dead spot on the sensor and the gauge will start reading again.i dont recommend diy replacement of the fuel level sender.
