You must use a circular tightening sequence starting in the middle of the cylinder head and work your way out to both ends.....Start at 20 Ft. Lbs. and Stop at 80 Ft. Lbs. Use the Circular Sequence in 20 Ft. Lbs. increments till You Finish off at 80 Ft. Lbs.......Lightly oil the threads and the underside of the Head Bolts before starting to insure correct Torque wrench reading.............
My lincoln had the same problem. on a lot of ford cars the have a seprate ignition for starting the car then the computer takes over after eng, starts you are not getting power the the starting module. In my case the weak connection was in the main wiring harness through the fire wall connector.
Sounds like the idle jet in the carb is plugged up.
It only stays running from the primer load, then dies when that is used up, as the gas can not get from the float bowl through the idle jet.
Did you store it for a while with the gas still in it?
If so, what happens is the gas starts to go bad, and over time it can get almost like a varnish.
When this happens, it starts plugging up the small ports in the carb, starting with the smallest, which is the idle jet.
Before storing for any length of time, your best bet is to drain the gas and run the float bowl dry.
If not that, at least add some fuel stabilizer to the gas left in it, and run it for about 5 minutes with the stabilizer in the fuel.
That should usually be ither the mass airflow sensor getting dirty if so use carbeurater cleaner to clean it out ir its another air sensor ,just look along the air intake pipe ..and use the cleaner to clean the sensors
2006 colorado..security system keeps me from starting the truck , but not every time. i had a new key made but the security symbol pops up now and then too. can the system be turned off//
sounds like a your tie rod ends or ball joints are bad. as far as it turning off in gear means that the fuel injection is screwed up which means its a gas problem which is a intake problem with wrong fuel mixture or even a vacuum leak.
