Temporarily disconnect the new EGR and see if it helps. You may get a check light from the EGR, but you will know if its the problem. You might want to check your paperwork for the EGR and see if the engine requires a different part#.
Also do a leak test on the Intake manifold. Use a water spray bottle or choke cleaner safe for plastic and rubber. Then, while the engine runs, spray around the seams on the Intake, the EGR, and any switch having a Vacuum fitting. When you find a leak the RPM will change. Then fix the leak.
Some of the v-6 manifolds were 2 piece and the gaskets fail, then some motors have 2 solenoids on top of the engine with vacuum lines leading to 2 pods on the manifold. The solenoids are known to stick. Try using WD40 and spray inside the solenoids to free them.
ok i replaced the egr valve, plugs, the springs in the coils, upper and lower manifold gasket, most of the hoses that show any wear, fuel filter, air filter, TPS, and it starts fine. When I slow the car down or accelerate hard the engine shutters and stutters and feels like its going to stall but then i ease off the gas it stops doing that....what am i missing to make it stop doing that?
Hello, Try plugging the EGR Vacuum line again temporarily and see if that makes anything change. If that takes out the problem it can be a Programming problem as much as a EGR Solenoid. The PCM is rewritable and can be Reflashed, there may be updates for driveability. This Acceleration shudder reminds me of a bad spark advance which in the old cars would mean the engine is not advancing the spark. Now camshaft sensors are used.
You might call Advance autoparts first for checking the Camshaft sensor, as I understand they can check Modules and other parts the other major chains can't. Call around for sure. Your original suspicion was a fuel problem. With a rapid swing in acceleration, the fuel pressure Regulator must respond. There is a test spout on the fuelrail, you may find a loaner fuel pressure gauge to verify your operating pressure. Fordexpert
