My air is not working. It is blowing hot air. It also makes a rattle noise when you turn it on the highest blow setting.

The battery change and the problem, may coindental or maybe not, your air regulator door actuator is probably stripped our just worn out, the regulator is attached to the damper that controls the drivers side air over the two coils. shouldn't be to hard to locate, but will require laying on your back and removing the under dash panel. it will probably be a small rectangular shaped module mount to the duct at a damper door! i hope this helps, if you want exact instructions they can be found at alldatadiy.com for 20 bucks. Merry Christmas!

Sounds like your temperature actuator is not moving or your temp door is broken. On max a-c ,coolant is shut off to your heater core allowing only cold air in.

Take the inlet & outlet hose off of the lines feeding your heater coil, where it come off the motor. Do you have good pressure on your water supply to your house????? If Yes. Flush the water thru the heater hose backwards from the diterction that the water normly flows from your car motor. Alot ot the time your heater core will just be plugged up and need to be backflushed. Also make sure that you do not have trash/ leaves in your heater box?????
You can also later on after flushing the H-core out, you can flush your motor, radiator & heater coil by dropping everything out and add water plus 1-can of old style Comett. This is very abrassive!!!! Run the motor for about 1-hour. Then drop all of it out. Put just water back into the system and run again about 10-minutes.Do this flushing about 3-times. You will see how clean your radiator will be, plus the cooler your motor will run.
Take it to a garage and have them evacuate the system and refill with refrigerant. you have air and non condensibles in the refrigerant system.

there are few things you need to check out:
1. if the compressor is overcharged it will shut down and you won't get any cool air
2. the thermostat for your cooling system is bad
3. the link to adjust the temperature is too short (did you feel the switch loose when changing temperature from hot to cold)?
hope this helps.
