Subarus have a trans axle and are a 90/10 drive system. That means 90% of the power is to the front wheels and 10% to the rear. Till a wheel slips then a viscous clutch transfers the power to a full 50/50. Sometimes the viscous clutch gets damaged and won't release the 50/50 state. In that case a rebuild is the only fix. But no there's no transfer case on a Subaru.

Terios center diff lock not unlocking

Hi I have a question about the diff lock on my 4x4 Terios 2009. My WhatsApp nr is 083 640 5317 and my e-mail address is [email protected]. I had the clutch replaced with a clutch kit and after that if I drive the car in the normal mode (without diff lock engaged) the car struggles to make sharp turns to the left and right and it almost feels as if the car is sticky. There is also a vibration or shudder on the car between 40 and 60 km an hour which is not felt if you exceed 80km per hour. There is also a high pitched humming noise audible when you slow down approaching a stop street. The steering wheel also feels tight, almost as if the power steering is not as effective as usual. HOWEVER, if I engage the diff lock all these symptoms disappear and the car runs very smoothly, it turns on a coin, no shudder at all, no humming noise, just a very smooth ride indeed. I almost get the idea that either the diff lock stays on/engaged in the normal mode and that it disengages when you press the diff lock button and the diff lock light comes on. In other words I almost get the idea that the diff lock system now works the other way around. What is your opinion, could something have gone wrong with the diff lock switch when the clutch was repaired?

My 96 camry vienta shudders like the engine is missing going around right hand bends and doesn't going around left hand turns

Take it to a repair shop. Something is wrong with the suspension, wheels, wheel bearings or brakes. Drive slowly and carefully.

Why is car vibrating loud and hard when I turn the wheel towards the right?

sounds like its the wheel bearing assembly on one of the left hand side wheels recheck that there is no play on those wheels when jacked up off the ground and spin both wheels by hand .......your sure to feel a roughness on the problem wheel on fast rotation by hand

What can cause wheel to lock but when u place the key inside the ignition its not unlocking the wheel it still in the lock mode

I think from what you are saying the wheels are turned enough that they are putting load on the steering wheel. When you get ready to turn the key on - turn steering wheel left or right a little (you will feel which way is hard against lock) enough to get load off lock with your arm strength and then the key should turn fine. This can happen when you parked on hill or had wheel turned when shutting down car.

In 4wd the vehicle seems to jam the brakes on at low speed when parking is this a problem , or is it because of the difflock?

Do not use 4wd and/or difflock on hard surfaces!!! The seeming effect of braking that you feel is actually what is called drive-train wind-up.(Hard steering should also be felt) What it means is that one wheel on the system is turning slower than the rest of the components and considering all components are connected via metal tubes(over simplified, I know) you can imagine for yourself the effect of holding one end of a tube still while twisting the other end!!! You're going to break something!
If your difflock stays engaged even with the button in the "off" postion, try reverse 10 feet then forward 10 feet. If this does not help, have a look at the differential, there is a tube leading into it, disconnect, then reconnect and try again.

1998 Honda CR-V makes low pitched shuddering or growling noise intermittently when turning sharp right or left at very low speeds.

YOU should find that if you let off the turn a bit and not turn on hard full lock,, now do this stopped and someone sitting in the drivers seat and bonnet open and turning the steering wheel with engine running in idle
if the noise goes and the shuddering goes then its the powered steering pump is either low in fluid or airrating or if belt driven then see if belt is trying to stop on full lock and if it is then try a new belt or other wise its the pump faulty.

I can't start my car

Your ignition sounds locked to me. Try turning the steering wheel hard to the left or right or tugging while you try turning the key. I bet it will unlock. The car isnt broken, its actually a safety feature.,
