I havea 2009 tuscon sx. the ESP OFF light comes on occassionally affecting the gearbox & not allowing the car to get out of gear. the ESP OFF button on the dash doesn't do anything. We have taken it to Hyandai 3 times & they are at a loss at to how to repair it.

Whenever that ESP/ESC warning light comes on, there is a diagnostic code set (DTC). This code tells the technician which component in the system CAUSED the ESP/ESC control module to turn ON the warning light!

Did the technicians SCAN for any DTC's? Since the vehicle is a 2009, the service department is supposed to have Hyundai's GDS (Global Diagnostic System) available to do this. If they don't have this equipment, find a service department that DOES!
