1992 olds 98. The blower motorsstays on after you turn the ignition off. I disconnected the blower now the car is starting to act like the altornator is ad all the dash lights come on and I loose power when you turn it off the battery is dead, if you let it sit for a while it'll start again and the problem repeats. Any suggestions

You probably need to replace the ignition switch (located at the bottom of the steering column). You can start by making sure the switch has not come loose from the column and that the rod connecting it to the key mechanism has not come loose or is out of adjustment.

I had a similar problem with a 1993 Chrysler product. Turned out to be the ignition switch. However, I would first try disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes to reset the computer before checking into the switch.

check if you can slowly turn the key, if they start working, replace the ignition switch

could be alot of different things. try disconnecting the fuel line at the motor to see if you have fuel when the key is turned on. (put open end of line in a bottle preferrably clear to inspect for debris or water) If not replace fuel filter. could be a clogged catalytic converter, could be clogged injectors (if when you remove the fuel line at the motor there is fuel coming out when ignition is turned on) could be air filter is clogged. You can get rid of most of these without disconnecting anything by getting a can of choke and carb cleaner. Use it like you would starter fluid. (dont use starter fluid as it may lock up your motor) disconnect air filter and spray about a 2 second full spray into the air filter hose. have someone try to start the car. If it starts then you know its a fuel delivery problem and narrows it down for you.

try wd 40 if that dont help will have to change sw but its a fairly easy job

(1)If vehicle is equipped with airbags, disarm the airbag system. To do this, turn the ignition switch to OFF position. Detach the cable from the negative battery terminal, then detach the positive cable. Wait two minutes for the electronic module backup power supply to be depleted. To enable the system, turn the ignition switch to OFF position. Connect the positive cable first, then connect the negative.
(2)Disconnect the blower motor connector.
(3) Remove the blower motor mounting screws and remove the motor.
(4)Remove the blower motor wheel hub pushnut and the clamp from the shaft. Pull the blower motor wheel from the shaft.
(5) Installation is the reverse of these steps.

If your battery is more than four years old, replace it. remove the starter and altenator and bring to autozone, where they test for free. If all three items above are ok, then you have a weird issue that involves alot of testing, or possibly an ignition cylinder?

the coil could be breaking down when it gets hot, if it starts after it cools off replace the coil

remove the ignition loom and try to start the car with a screw driver inserted in the loom acting as the key.this will determine wheather the ignition lock is defctive.do not over look the startor motor

try looking at your x relief relay it may be sticking
