i believe these solinoids are located on the valve body which is behind the tranny pan. if you are not fluent in trans repair you may want to let a repair shop do it although it will cost an arm and a leg.

1996 Cadillac Deville not shifting into drive or top gear. Also starts in second. Traction control button doesn't change anything. Flushed fluid but no change.

change shift solinoids. located in transmission pan. 4.6l north star has a 4t80e tranny. remove bolts holding pan drop pan . now disconnect the shift solinoids thair are 2 u should see several bolts around 20 bolts holdong the valve body to the transmission unscrew thees bolts . ( 10MM) before removing all bolts disconnect the hook with a clip going to the valve body.its located to a spring and lever. now remove rest of bolts. DO NOT LET IT FALL DOWN. remove the connector going to manifold pressure sensor. use a flat head screw driver to pull clips holding the solinoids in place. thair should be a small **** located on the other side of throdle body. DO NOT REMOVE ALL THE BOLTS OUT OF THE BODY. THAIR ARE BALL BERINGS INSIDE THAT WILL FALL OUT OF PLACE. the screen is located in between the shift solinoids. DO NOT DO THIS JOB WITHOUT ALREADY HAVING THE REPLACMENT PARTS ON HAND. when putting every thang back together i would check the wiring harness for anny shorts . 4L 60E - 2001 k1500 will not shift into 3-4. Oil is not burn't and stifts great into1-2

  • No 3rd or 4th gear: “3-4” clutches are worn out. R&R. The car is safe to drive (in 2) until you can get it fixed.
  • Trans shifts into gear harshly, car feels sluggish off the line, No 1st, 4th or TCC lockup available, Manual 2nd, 3rd and Reverse are only available gears, CEL is on: Transmission is either in limp-home mode or has lost electrical power. If there are lots of error codes in the PCM, check the under hood fuse that powers the transmission, and if it pops again, look for a short in that circuit like an O2 sensor harness touching exhaust. Otherwise, check PCM codes for a particular fault in the transmission causing the PCM to put it in limp-home mode.
  • No 1st or 4th available; trans shifts 2nd to 3rd by itself in D or OD and locks the converter : Shift A solenoid failed. Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.
Check to see if your transmission is in the limp mode, which would only give you 2nd, 3rd and reverse gears. No 1st or 4th gear.

2000 blazer shifts fine 1-3 gears , wont go into overdrive, shows check engine light trouble code po0753 shift solenoid a , any help

OK, let me remember..........the code 753 means the solenoid INSIDE the tranny pan is bad. You don't have 1st or 4th gear, is what I was told, however, you probably WON'T even notice. I didn't. If you are at a stop, and get on it hard, you should be able to tell. If you drive normal, like me, and just accelerate gradually, you would not be able to tell that the truck is not hitting the 1st and 4th gear. You may not recognize a problem, just the check engine light. Your going to have to drop the tranny pan, replace the solenoid, and reinstall the fluid and the pan. The hardest part is, upon dropping the pan, if you don't know what you are doing, you can damage the other solenoids, and if you don't damage any, you may still have a hard time realizing which solenoid is the right one. It would take 1hour at, plus tranny pan gasket and fluid, etc., etc., for a total of about $120. Most transmission shop charge $100 for a transmission oil and filter service. The solenoid was about $20. It is not hard to replace, just unclip the wire harness and solenoid which will be an extra 5 min to the service time.

it's inside the transmisson you have to remove the oil pan on the transmisson to get to it.
