It should be under the driver's dash to the left of the steering column. The Haynes manual recommends you first remove the lower finish panel on that side for access. Haynes calls the fuel pump relay the "circuit opening relay."

Check for a spark first, double check fuel pump is running and actually "hums" when you prime the motor. Check fuel filter, clogged fuel filter could be the culprit and explain why it sputterred with starter fluid but wont run without. Good luck.

Open the hood and look for the engine control fuse box. On the inside of lid it should tell you which one is the fuel pump relay.

Only Ford products have inertia switches for fuel pumps.
If your pump is not running, you will need to check the fuse and relay to see if the pump is getting power.

dont look for air when the car cuts out its most likley spark or fuel when it cuts out ranomly its usually a sensor or relay that is faulty check fuel pump relay and camshaft or crankshaft sensors but first narrow it down to spark or fuel if possible also if check engine lite is on check codes
