I presume your Santa Fe sports the 3.5 liter V6 engine? If it's got the NUT, it's at the front & there's a nut stud. If it's got the BOLT, it's accessed from the opposite (anterior) side using a long, long extension. If you have a vehicle hoist/lift, you can easily see it. If you're on your back with the vehicle on jack stands, it's much more difficult to see the 14mm bolt between the exhaust flex pipe and heat shield of the exhaust manifold at the right hand side of the engine.
Say you're directly beneath the engine oil pan, move toward the transmission and look upward and forward between the 1:00 and 2:00 oclock positions of the engine (toward the power steering pump) - 14mm bolt

2003 Hyundai Santa fe, pump changed 3 times, last time Hyundai pump, reservoir, Hyundai fluid and both high and low pressure hoses. cooler is clear and flows free. Still have a whine.

if you are talking power steering system, the whine is a vibration in a problem control valve and could be in the steering valves on the rack

2002 HYUNDAI SANTA FE

I had the same problem with a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe. While driving to work as I pressed on the gas the brake and battery light would come on. When I applied the brake, the lights would go off. When I got to work I turned the car off and then tried to start it, nothing. The car made a funny sound while running and I could smell somethig smoking. I replaced the alternator and all is good again. When removing the alternator the bottom lifts off the mounting bracket, you cannot drive the bottom bolt back through the mount as I tried to. Simply remove the nut on the bottom bolt and remove the top bolt, then lift the alternator out.
