Diagram is the wrong style of headlight.
The light is a composit style
In that case, just turn the retaining ring counter clockwise from behind the composite headlamp assembly. This releases the bulb. Use a small screwdriver to pry the connector off of the back of the bulb.
Installation is the reverse of the removal.
that is for once we get the light off of the truck. Are there any tricks of getting the actual light off the truck?

See Figure 4Disconnect the negative battery cable and make certain that the headlight switch is off.
Raise the hood.
Unfasten the two long screws from the top of the radiator support and pull the headlight assembly forward.
Unplug the wiring connector.
Twist the bulb or, if equipped the retaining ring, to the left, then pull the bulb assembly from the unit.
Position the new bulb assembly into the unit and twist it to the right. The connector end should be facing down.
Always replace a high beam with a high beam, or a low beam with a low beam! The low beam should have a grey tip and a yellow gasket, while the high beam bulb uses a red gasket. Connect the wiring harness to the bulb assembly.
Place the headlight assembly into position and install the two long screws through the top of the radiator support.
Connect the battery cable and check for proper high and low beam operation.
I got the latest picture and instructions from autozone's site which sometims has more detail than my regular online resource.
Autozone's site also had the older style headlamp assembly that I originally copied and pasted to fixya.com. I wasn't sure which one you had.
