My check battery light comes on as well as check gages. Coolant is full and has brand new battery. Just had an oil change. Once I turned off the jeep and started it and the battery Gage went back to normal. I also had to drive without having the vehicle stop or the engine would kill with no idle ... Any ideas? 1996 grand Cherokee Laredo v8

First thing to check is your battery terminals , make sure they are clean and tight . All kinds of strange things happen when battery does not make good contact.
That is the oil pressure gauge not the oil level gauge. Sometimes they can act that way when the oil is thin. When is the last time the oil was changed? Try using a heavier weight oil. When engines wear they require thicker oil. What size engine does you voyager have?
At this point I would strongly suggest that you have your mechanic hook a mechanical oil pressure guage to the engine and make absolutlely sure that the pressure is up to manufacturers standards. It may simply be a failing oil pressure sending unit, but, until you know, it could turn out a lot more expensive! Thank you, Dana
this could be a fulty oil pump or a very dirty oil filter and or oil,,,i would give the car an oil change and a new oil filter and then see what it runs like, if its still very low try a new gage if its the same reading its the oil pump or the engine's bearings are worn out,
Check gauge light can come on for a number of different things, from Low fuel to low oil pressure to high engine temperatures. When the light comes on check all the gauge's and see whats causing it, one or more of the gauge's will be showing an issue, Low fuel or low oil pressure, Low battery power. Any of the mentioned things can cause it... Figure out whats causing it then you can remedy the situation...
You need to verify that the gage is accurate, if it is then the cause is the thermostat, but check the gage first, a repair shop can do this or you can feel the air coming off the radiator fan, if it is really hot changing to cool rapidly then the T-Stat is sticking open.
