I have a 95 gmc 4x4 stick shift transmission and traansfercase. I can put it into 4 wheel drive when it is cold but after i drive it for about 20 min it will not go into 4 wheel drive untill it cools down. i have replaced the 4 wheel drive accuator on the front axle. the transfercase i working just the front axle will not engage.. please help thanks rooster

I would think so..

check fuses, if they check out I would look at cable/linkage that attaches shift lever to transmission. If it don't have a 4x4 shifter it's probably the switch that puts it in 4x4.

just shift to 4x4 on the fly as long as you are not going faster than 80 kms an hour.
four wheel drive low gear you will need to stop and put it in neutral, keep the brake to the floor and shift.

You can shift between 2Hi and 4Hi when the truck is moving. Just let off the gas and shift it. But in order to shift to Neutral or 4Lo you need to stop the truck and shift the transmission into neutral then shift the transfer case.

Make sure you have it in (N) before shifting it. Did it work before?

I also have a 2002 Envoy. Shifting to and from 4wh and 4wa can be done on the fly but shifting to 4wL has to be done stoped and while in neutral. Try that. Otherwise I'm afraid its a new computer for you. Its located under the left rear seat and you need a loan for one.

Ford has 2 types of 4x4 system engagement. One is a knob on the dash that you just turn to 4wheel drive high or low. The other system is the 4x4 transfer case shift on the transmission tunnel (hump) between the driver and passenger seats. Your blazer is equipped with a shift on the fly four wheel drive. That means that at speeds less than fifteen miles per hour you can shift into or out of four wheel drive by simply pushing the four wheel high button. If you wish to shift into four wheel low. Stop, put the transmission into park or neutral, and push the four wheel low button. Same procedure for shifting back out. Never shift into or out of four wheel low while moving. And be careful in four wheel low. At full throttle your still barely moving, you don't want to blow your engine up!
