I cannot open the doors on my BMW using the remote control or the internal button. I can only open the driver's door using the manual key. The remote control locks the door fine and triggers the alarm. This problem means I can only open the drivers door at present. The remote control opens the boot fine. Its a 325i 2005 model.

i also can only open the drivers door by key not remote nor car button. I can lock it and open the trunk, and drive. It is driving me crazy the past few days and cant figure out how to disarm it. Do you have any suggestions. My car is a 2002 330i

2001 325xi - key remote open functions sometimes. Inside lock/unlock switch on center console doesn't work at all. Alarm does not work. remote lock and trunk unlock work pretty consistently. Could not unlock passenger or back doors remotely, with center console switch or even with the inside or outside handles. Tried with ignition key and driver's door in all positions and combinations. 20 minutes later, I was able to manually unlock from inside. Don't know why. System has a mind of its own.

cannot open my doors with key fob or inside button.

I am having problems opening my doors with car key or internally. I have found that the locks work fine until the afternoon so I am wondering if it could have anything to do with the heat (which is usually on up until the afternoon). Keeping the heat on has improved my problem, but not solved it entirely since it still happens periodically. Once I unlock the driver's side manually, I can often eventually get the other doors open with the internal button or by opening each handle from the inside.

This is a common fault on the series 3 usually down to the General Module 5 or GMV relays breaking down. Item is situated behind glove box reasonably easy to replace. Cost from BMW about £240.00 Can be found through breakers about £60.00. Keys will have to be recoded. See www.bmwgm5.com for more info.

2006 325 i door locks not working driver door will lock and other doors stay open if drivers door is locked it needs to be open manually back doors were locked by hand and now wont open by remote

I had a very similar situation. Was very annoying not being able to unlock or lock doors from pannel control nor from remote.
Only driver door can be opened with manual key.

Solution: One of the 15 amp purple fuses was blown. Fuses are located inside glove compartment, the interior end has to be removed releasing the two locks.
Use a light and the red tool located on the panel to remove fuses.

Central Locking does not work

You must reset your remote control in order for the lock/unlock to work properly.

To reset remote you would:
1)Insert Key in Ignition Turn to Position 1(Don't Start the Engine) for about 5 seconds
2)Turn Key Off and HOLD the LOCK button on Remote while pressing the UNLOCK 3 TIMES
3)Release both lock and unlock buttons you are holding
4)All doors should automatically unlock

And exit the door and lock with the Remote.

Recode a key 4 bmw 318i cenral locking

To carry out this procedure you need to have one working key and one key which requires programming. It may help sometimes to hold the key close to the rear view mirror as this is where the sensor is located in most models. 1. With both keys, get in the car and close all windows and doors. 2. Put working key into the ignition and turn to position 1 (the accessories should turn on) (try also position 2) 3. Turn the key back to position 0 and take the key out of the ignition. 4. Using the working key, hold down the unlock button, press the BMW logo (lock button) 3 times, and release the unlock button. Doors should lock and unlock. 5. With the new key, hold down the unlock button and press the BMW logo (lock button) 3 times and let go of the unlock button. Doors should lock and unlock and you're done!! If not working try the following PREPARATION 1. Close all doors, trunk, hood and sunroof. 2. The security system must be in 'disarm' mode. The key must be removed from the ignition key slot. ENTER CODE LEARNING MODE 3. Open trunk and leave it opened. 4. Open the drivers door and sit in the drivers seat. 5. Close the drivers door. 6. Cycle the ignition switch 5 times between the 'OFF' position and position 2,(ignition 'ON', all dash warning lamps will illuminate). The red status LED will illuminate continuously, and the siren will 'chirp' once, to indicate that the code-learning mode has been initiated. ?Do No start the engine.? The Ignition switch cycling in step #6 must be performed within 10 seconds. The sequence in steps #1-#6 must be performed within 45 seconds. REGISTER/DELETE ID CODE(S) 7. Open drivers door, (remain seated in the drivers seat) 8. Close the drivers door. 9. Press and release any button on the remote you wish to register in the system. The status LED will shut off momentarily to indicate that one code has been registered. 10. Repeat steps 7 thru 9 to register the three ID codes. It is possible for the system to memorize a total of 4 different ID codes. As a new code is initialized into the memory, the oldest code is automatically deleted. If you had lost your remotes and wished to delete the lost remote ID codes from the memory, you could initialize the ID codes from a newly purchased replacement transmitter four times thereby deleting the previous ID codes from the system memory. EXITING CODE - LEARNING MODE: 11. Open drivers door, and exit from the vehicle, leaving the door opened. 12. Close trunk. 13. Close drivers door. The LED will turn off and the siren will 'chirp twice. 14. The initialization procedure is now completed; Test all remotes to confirm operation. If this doent work your alarm/central lock needs to be reset
