Inspection

Inspect for the correct routing of the spark plug wires. Improper routing may cause cross-firing. Inspect each wire for any signs of cranks or splits in the wire. Inspect each plug wire boot for tearing, piercing, arcing, carbon tracking or a corroded terminal.
If there is any corrosion, carbon tracking or arcing indicated on a plug wire boot or terminal, both the plug wire and component it was connected to should be replaced.

remove the ignition coil pack ( 2 10mm bolts on front of it and 2 13 mm nuts on the back side) u will need a long extension and deep socket for the back ones , and unplug all electrical connectors and remove it from the vehicle and you should be able to reach the back plugs without a problem.

2000 pontiac montana 3.4. replaced plugs and wires, have a miss on #3 cyld. Hold a test lite next to that wire at the coil pack and it arks fire through the tester!Bad plug, Wire, or coil pack?

rather than rely on that check the plug on an exposed metal surface, if you have a good spark it is not the electrical system at
all. Work backwards from the plug to identify the fault if the spark is not very good.If they are all okay check the compression on that cylinder. Once these procedures are completed you should know where the problem lies. could be worn bore, rings or a valve issue

2000 Pontiac Montana not starting

Disconnect one of the battery cables for 5 min. Reattach it and tighten manually. This resets the ECM and possibly will allow starting. Disconnect a plug wire and get someone into the drivers seat and attempt to start. Hold plug wire close to spark plug and see if there's a spark. If no spark, either the battery is bad or COIL.

2001 montana will crank but not start

As with any no start issue, someone will need to figure out if you are dealing with a no spark or no fuel problem to proceed.
Check for spark at the plugs and fuel pressure at the injectors.

How to change sprak plugs on 2000 montana

The best way i've found is to remove the coil pack, it gives you enough room to get to them. Be sure to replace them with OEM plugs. Don't by cheap spark plugs or you'll be doing it again sooner than you want to.

Tune up

Slipping tranny can be caused by that. Rule of fixing cars is if not sure start cheap. Replace the Filter and fluid. Also it wont hurt to put in Lucas Transmission Additive with the fluid change. Change plug 2 ways if it has motor mounts on top then disconnect them and pull the engine foward. or

No need to rotate engine as I was told that sometimes this causes damage to exhaust link which is flex. First two plugs can be reached by going along the same channel as exhaust pipe from header runs. Last plug remove right side tire and you can reach up by body to change it. This one is blind, but it's possible.
