Just purchased 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe. While driving, steering became difficult, brake light, and engine light came on as if the car died, but once we brought the car to a stop we realized that the car was still running. Just as quick as it happened everything appeared fine. Luckily enough we were pulling into a parking lot and not traveling 70 on the interstate. Please help.

I had a similar prob with my 2003 sante fe. It turned out that a plastic panel under the front end had fallen off and now water spalses onto the steering belt and makes it difficult to steer. I need a new spalsh panel (about $300 new/ a lot less from a junkyard and it looks easy yo install)

Hi, could be power steering pump, some sign of this is hevy steering and check to see if you can hear any wining from the pump when moveing steering from lock to lock, also check level of fluid and condition of fluid first, if it looks old try replacing fluid before pump, hope this was some help.

Hi:
All of the engines in Hyundai santa fe are interference engines, so you should regularly change your timing belt. The timing belt also drives the water pump, so it is always a good idea to change that too, if you have the engine apart for the timing belt. Here is a link to check out!
