How this system works: Traction control uses wheel speed sensors to detect when one or more of the car's wheels lose grip and traction. When the system registers a loss of traction in one or more of the wheels, a computer will limit power to the wheels that are still in solid contact with the road to prevent a skid. Common reasons for this to happen:

ABS is malfunctioning: Traction control and ABS (anti-lock braking system) often share the same control module and internal self-diagnostics system. As a result, sometimes an issue in the ABS can trigger the traction control light. If this is the case, then both the ABS and Traction Control lights will be on.
Broken wheel speed sensors: Wheel speed sensors are usually in the wheel bearing assembly, and determine the rate at which each wheel is moving. The sensors relay that information to the traction control module, which determines whether or not power needs to be shifted. Wheel speed sensors can get dirty or damaged and stop working, which prohibits the traction control module from knowing when to enable the system.Traction control module is faulty: The traction control module - which, again, is often shared with the ABS - can malfunction and break altogether, causing the system to stop working. What to expect: A top-rated mobile mechanic will come to your home or office to determine the source and cause of the traction control issue, and will then provide a detailed inspection report that includes the scope and cost of the necessary repairs. How important is this service? It's important to have the traction control issue investigated as soon as possible, as adverse driving conditions can arise at any time. While your car is unlikely to incur further damage from a faulty traction control system, it won't be safe to drive in rain, snow, sleet, or other inclement weather, or even possibly through pools of water on the road. Furthermore, the issue that is causing the traction control light to illuminate could also be impacting the ABS.

It means there is a problem with traction control system an there is a DTC- diagnostic trouble code stored in the ABS control module (because traction control is part of the ABS system) Do you know what DTC'S are ? Traction Control

Why does my ABS light stays on and sometimes i get a vibration in the brake petal causing my 2002 Cadillac escalade not wanting to stop?

The light being on means the system has detected a problem in one or more sensors. The vibration is the ABS modulating the brakes to prevent skidding because it has detected a wheel that is locked up. That wheel is most likely the one sensor that is giving you the error.

You can use a used one if you like or a rebuilt one, many companies do this. Just google it.

Equinox 2005, ABS and Traction ligths on.

The dealer should not have discussed any billing to you,
or released the vehicle -until the problem was resolved

Take it back & tell them you no longer want it-- until it is
fixed & you want a free rental car

MOST OF THE TIME WHEN ABS LIGHT AND TRAC LIGHT TURNS ON.YOU COULD HAVE A BAD WHEEL SPEED SENSOR.BEST TO TAKE CAR TO DEALERSHIP LET THEM DO CODE SCAN ON ABS BRAKE SYSTEM TO SEE WHAT CAUSING THE ABS AND TRAC LIGHT TO TURN ON.

Abs and tcs lights on what do they stand for?

ABS stands for anti lock brake system.
TCS stands for traction control system.

I recommend having your abs system diagnosed for faulty sensors, control module, etc. With the abs light on the traction control system is designed to disable because it utilizes the abs system to automatically help control your vehicle in loss of traction situations.

The ligth turn on abs

does your car have traction controll? also if you have a bad wheel bearing it will bugger up the sensor located in the assembly and set off your light your abs system will automatically go to a standard brake system if there is a problem with the abs

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THE ABS FIXED THE LIGTH AUTOMATYCALY TURNS OFF BUT IF THE ABS IS STILL UNABLE THE ABS LIGTH AND THE TRAC OFF LIGTH WILL REMAIN ON

If the low traction light and the ABS light are on, chances are the system is reading at least one wheel turning faster than the others, and is interpreting this as a slipping tire. I'm not sure how much the measured speed difference needs to be to turn the system on - maybe even an undersized spare tire could do it.

If you know it isn't the tires, you may have a problem with one of the wheel speed sensors. These detect the slots in the edges of the brake rotors. Check the wiring harness to the speed sensors - it gets a lot of abuse on the bottom of the car. A replacement rotor with different slot spacing could also cause the problem.

If the sensors and wiring are good and not sending false signals, then the ABS controller is at fault.
