There are so many variables for a stalling condition it is best to at least take to a mechanic for a preliminary inspection. No one can give you an easy check on here with a resolution sorry

More info would be nice do u have a check engine light on if not check for blocked fuel filter . also look for a broken or loose vacum line. check egr and egr line also a vacum problem. hope one of those work for you if so leave me great feedback

First you could try cleaning the throttle plate and the idle air control passages .

Need a whole new transmission, ASAP. It's a 2004 Taurus; Their transmission's tend to start slipping after so many years.

2004 ford taurus idles ruff and no pickup engine light comes on,i can reset the engine light but it still come back on any help.

Best thing to do is take it to Auto zone or a parts store that will read the codes. Sounds like you have a bad coil pack on one or more of the spark plugs. Getting the codes will pin point the problem.

I assume you are saying you have a check engine light illuminated.

Most auto parts stores will read the OBD II code(s) for check engine lights at no charge. The codes they read will give you an idea of what the problem is.

check your fuel regulator, pull the vacuum line off and see if its leaking fuel by the diaphram inside...

2003 Taurus stalls at traffic lights

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Check the fuel pressure first to find out what the fuel pump is doing.
