I have a 1999 hyundai accent and the wipers havnt worked in a while, its been sitting in the garage for a bit but i dont know what is wrong, i believe it is the wiper motor but im not sure. when i turn the wipers on, they twitch but dont end up actually moving, they will move if i use my hands and move them manually but other than that they dont budge. do you think this is the wiper motor? or something more?

You know it sounds like a break in the linkage as the wiper motor will not usually let you freely move the wiper arms yourself. Generally there is an arm attached to the motor which in going around and around makes a side to side action in the wiper linkage. Without any more info I would suspect a failure in the ball joint connection between the wiper motor arm and the linkage. On a car that old most likely you should look around for a replacement used linkage on eBay or Craigslist. Once obtained, get yourself a repair manual or search on youtube for a video on how to remove and replace the linkage. there are many folks selling repair manuals on CD for about 10 bucks on eBay.

My airbag light stays on

I just had my car worked on in one shop, a HYUNDAI ATOS 2000 they fixed a bad windshield wiper mechanism, but after the repair, my airbag light remained illuminated,
the garage mechanic tried with 2 diagnostic computers to
'reboot' my cars own computer, but neither of his devices could communicate with my car,
I had to go to another garage with a proper computer
the repair took only 5 seconds!!
sobs!, they charged me $50 for the 'work'......the first garage evidenlty, touched something, and I had to pay the bill......live & learn,.
before this I tried all the 'tricks' like disconnecting the battery,
first neg, then pos, nothing else worked, damned computers!!

Hyundai Accent 1998 Front Wiper and Washer Won't Turn Off

the black switches are master switches. They control stuff like the horn, the lights, wipers, AC, Engine Fans, and....there's one more that it controls, but i dont remember what it is. But you're going the wrong way about this. You're on the wrong side of the engine. You want to be on the opposite side of the engine, along the firewall, close to the front shocks by the windshield wiper motor. That's more than likely your problem. A little bit of water, grease, or some dirt might have slipped past the seal and caused a malfunction in the control wheel. Just open it up, clean it out, add some grease to the appropriate area, blow dry the circut board, stitch it back up, and that should solve the problem.
Please keep in mind that my American Car is a sligh bit different than your Australian Car. If the directions don't match up, i'm sorry for the inconvenience.

~Hope this helps

Trying to change windshield wiper motor

If you take off the wiper blades, then remove the plastic covering under the windscreen, the motor is underneath it. All it will be is two maybe three bolts and an electrical connector.

Wiper won't work

Probable cause: Wiper fuse (No.: 7, 8) blown. If not check for wiper switch faulty, loosen wiring, or ground faulty.
