Hi i own a mercedes benz e200 and just today while taking off (accelarating) the car started to lose power, then regain continuously. while raving the car in idle the same seems to happen when the rave count is between 20-30. i was adviced by a friend to remove the wire that joins the airmass while the car is stationary and rave it. it raved fine with the wire out. but on returning it the raving problems persisted. he adviced that i replace the airmass or have it reset. kindly assist on what i ought to do. thanks.

SOURCE: starts ,runs, no power counter wont go above 30

hi from what you are saying this could really be a few things, but i will give you a couple to be getting checked as these are the main things that cause this sort of problem, one of the main things is the VAF ( volume airflow sensor ) this could have a wiring fault or just stopped working altogether, the other major factor is the transmission, today most modern cars are fitted with what is known as a "limp home system" what this does is reduce the power to the engine just enough to get you home or a garage without causing any major damage , this is done from the gear box, mainly to do with the gear selection system, all it does is stop you from getting into major high gears, so you will need to get that checked if fitted to yours, and throttle switch adjustment, i doubt it is this but could be, and last thing air intake system leaks, just check around the air lines and listen to see if you can hear sucking noises, or purchase a can of ether and lightly spray it in places and see if you get an accelerated noise from motor/engine...hope this helps please vote if it does thanks

SOURCE: I just had the mass air flow sensor replaced in my

IT SOUNDS LIKE THE TPS (THROTTLE POSITION SWITCH/SENSOR) IS BAD, BUT TO BE SURE OF THE PROBLEM ,YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE IT HOOKED TO A DIOGNOSTIC SCANNER & IT WILL PINPOINT EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.

SOURCE: I recently bought a merc

this car has no seperate filler as you fill it by pouring the atf down the dipstick tube,(really).because of the age of this car it is advisable to get the filters renewed/oil flushed and refilled.automatics should have the oil/filters changed about 100k/10 years.
