1992 Ford Explorer The dimmer switch is not working it does not light up the instrament cluster is there a procedure to go through after the battery has been re-connected

Hello
No there is no procedure, the dimmer control is just burned out or the dash light fuse is open, replace the headlight switch and check the fuse

normally the cluster light are normally ajusted on most cars by turning the milage trip switch not sure what it called the bit you push in when you ajust your trip milage try turning that if its conected to the instrament cluster hope this makes sence cheers ivan

Do you mean that the check engine light stays on after you installed a new O2 sensor?

Check for codes, again, and go from there.

No instrament lighting - radio lights go out when marker lights turned on. Fuse is good.


Check your dimmer switch. Since it is located right next to your left knee, it is easy to turn the dimmer down and not notice.

Instrament panel lights not turning on with headlights


Hello info26944... first..check your fuses you might have one thats blown. Your instrument cluster may be experiencing a short circuit, which could shut down that circuit, to protect the BCM. I'll assume you've adjusted the dimmer all the way up and down past its detents to ensure its not just the switch? If all that checks out ok, then have the BCM scanned for a stored fault.
