1987 ford ranger turn signals keep blowing fuses. have changed flasher fuse and switch on column. just keeps blowing?

first thing i guess to understand what is going on here ,is a little back to basics on how turnsignals work , first item you have is power fuse then it's off to flasher module than it goes to the turnsignal switch on colum ,of course anywhere on it way to there the power could got to ground and cause the fuse to trip, now the power depending on Left or right selection , is directed to lights on both front and back of truck, thankfully rangers don't have em on the side) now any place in this pathway the wire could go to ground and blow the fuse, now to troubleshoot and narrow down the area that fault is located , (1) replace fuse with correct size and ck for proper fit in fusebox and start and operate truck for a few minutes DO not use turnsignals, ck fuse is it still good if so go to step 2 if not stop and ck wire conditions in steering colum and switch(2) start truck and try right hand turn signal only verify lights working ,Ok yes/no if not replace fuse and try left side same way, Ok yes /no if right or left side only blows fuses take ALL bulbS OUT of lights and try again , if fuse still blows then look for wire fault on that side of truck if fuse is still good then look carefull at light bulb sockets for rust and powered corrosion (ill bet an 87 has some ) you may need to replace bulb sockets , they do sell em in autoparts stores .

Wiring diagram 93 geo tracker

all last post was error, under GEO Prism the car is really
a 93 tracker, not that is much more easy
make sure you know what engine you have first. 8valves or 16v
as every other page is different by those 2 factors. (engine type)
most are here. (to make car run and lamps work)
http://www.fixkick.com/schematics-run.html
yours is here.

page one here, may cover it.

http://www.fixkick.com/power-elect/95%20electrics/95powersistra1.pdf

the link is really just a large fuse. for A./C
did blow the main fuses. messing with battery or alternator or starter>?

on all cars ,before messing, pull the NEG battery lug first.
this prevents blowing out those big puppy fuses.

both lamps bad? or one shorted and causing fuse to blow?
or the back up switch on top of tranny is bad
see pdf page 31, factory guy checking said switch with simple
ohm-meter
http://www.acksfaq.com/pdfs/sidekick_drivetrain_manual.pdf

Turn signal & flashers stopped working on '95 geo tracker 2wd, 5 speed.

old post 95 tracker.
ALL four corners dead and dash (warn lamp dead) in cluster
do you hear i flash, click click????
first is fuses, but there are 2 .
http://www.fixkick.com/power-elect/95%20electrics/all-lamps95b.pdf

page 2 see that.
are the 2 blink/has fuses good. test good not just LOOK good
after all if a feed is shorted you will blow both. (tested)

the blinker module ,usually dont fail
its electronic and robust.
fuses good, then
the black wire ground cut or rusty a body
G200 it uses, and if bad usually kills the engine.
yellow-white must be 12vdc blinks on. key on
switch is bad. i bet this is ok
the relay green is OUTPUT
if the blinker has power it clicks
if it green wire flashes with test lamp the blinker module is good
if the output of the blinker switch is dead L and right
the switch is bad.
assumes both left and right sides not shorted. to ground.

I have a 1984 Chevy Silverado 2wd it keeps blowing fuses that make my parking lights and interior lights work my head lights still work every time I put a new fuse in and as soon as I pull the light knob...

1st common area is trailer wiring,2nd is shorted bulb,3rd is corroded/damaged wiring.Replace fuse with circuit breaker which fits in fuse position and first check for a bulb that's out and shorted, shake and move any trailer wiring,if that didn't find a problem, temporarily install a signal light flasher into the tail light fuse connections and slide a compass along wiring and compass will flick/change reading as the flasher flashes until you hit the shorted area.(an old trick to fine a short)

Turn signals went out, checked fuse

remove all 4 corner lamps. add just on new lamp.
yes, fuses car short, sometimes fuse will blow.

if this fails. then diagnose, that.

why own a car that GM will not support?
your problem is easy to fix. but GEOs wow.

if the new lamp fails (1 installed)
then see if dash lamp flashes with no corner lamps.
moder flasher will flash with small loads, or up to 7 lamps. or more. usually a shorted lamp cause blown fuse or the flasher flashing hyper fast. (geos usually do this)
you next need to find out if a test lamp works on the output
side of the combo flasher, at the connector.

keep an open mind, cut wires, shorted wires.
blow fuse, some fuses look good and are not ! hair line cracks.! happen.

But if they look bad , they always are. see?
only a continuity check(low ohms) checks them.
bad shorted lamps.
bad flasher mod.
bad comb switch, (turns sig sw)
no the missing test.
does the emergancy falser work> y/n
cycle this switch the are infamous to get stuck half way.
really.

My turn signal fuse keeps blowing

Most likely cause is a bad column control.

My 89 geo tracker blows the 40 amp fuse

You will need to trace the wire to find the short that is blowing the fuse. It can be in the harness somewhere. Usually the harness will be rubbing against the frame parts until it gets to the bare wire. It does take years to get that far
