Hi,
Just bought a 1998 land rover discovery LSE, the dash lights and tail lights are not working. Am assuming it's a fuse but I can't seem to locate where it is. Any help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Scott
The dash and tail lights are controled by the first "click" of the headlight switch found on the turn signal arm.
If the fuses are good, then your turn signal arm has failed.
First click is running lights (dash and outside marker lights), second is headlights.
The 1st position of the 2 position switch has contacts internally that have worn and no longer complete the circuit.
Replace the turn signal arm.

I had this same problem but it was a fuse in the fuse box under the hood. Check the 2nd under hood fuse marked side lights for the dash and running lights.
I had the same problem with my Disco for years. It took me ten years to diagnose it. Actually, my eleven year old son diagnosed it.
We would have the dash lights and tail lights go out fairly regularly. None of the shops I took the vehicle to had a clue. I just biught a huge box of fuses and kept replacing them. Eventually my son asked me "Why do the dash lights always stop working after we close the glove compartment?" Aha! That was it. The glove box light was dangling loosely (like everything else in a Landrover) and metal would touch metal when we would close the glove box. I just wrapped the sides of the light in electrical tape and "Voila! Not a problem since!"
The fuse box should be under the steering wheel and the manual or the internet will show what volt you need and where it is . damn disco electrical probs

I have the same exact problem as angusteddy and have tried replacing the turn switch on the steering column but it did not help. I can't find any shorts or other issues, no blown fuses, no bad bulbs. Any other ideas?
