I have a 1989 Corvette that was running fine. Then after a long drive (several hours) it just stalled and would not start. The next day it started right up, ran for about 10 minutes and stalled and would not restart. Tried again the next day and it started and ran for 10 minutes and stall. Repeat, repeat, repeat. I changed the gas filter with no improvement. 1989 5.7 L TPI engine. JAM

Try banging on the gas tank while someone tries to start the car. if its the fuel pump the banging will make the pump to run. if it starts the fuel pump needs replaced.

My first guess would be the fuel pump. Alot of defective pumps will operate until they warm up.

1989 corvette runs rough surges between 600 and 700 rpm. drive it for 20 minutes it totally runs awful. had to have it towed the other day..waited two hour for flatbed started car and it ran again..code 44...

try replacing the fuel regulator, that would make it get too much fuel and the code for o2 sensor will come on saying too lean or too rich fuel mixture, and it would run rough

Car stalling out and bot starting after being driven for awhile.

mcdevito75 Here, It"s possible the ignition Module is going bad, no way to test and if so, one day the car will not start at all.----------It can also be a vapor loc, wher the fuel is evaporating before it reaches the cylinders. Best Bet, have your local shop check both these items.

1989 Z24, 2.8v6 intermittent stalling while driving. Sometimes will restart, but not go far, sometimes will not restart at all. Usually starts fine the next day, may run OK several days before acting up...

the pcm may have a cracked board, i had an 88 cavalier z24 with the same problem, replced the ecu and it ran fine, the problem is that the boards inside the pcm crack and lose connection, the next time it acts up open the glove box and try tapping on the pcm, if the car responds at all, the pcm is bad

your torque convrtoer is shot. it is the at the front of the tranny to transfer motion from fly wheel ( engine side) to the trans. its a fairly cheap and easy fix.
