With the engine cold remove the turbo outlet hose and check for free rotation of the spindle. if it is ok check the wastegate capsule link arm mechanism is not seized as this is fairly common. if all is ok check the pipe work from the turbo outlet to the intercooler (lh side below airfilter headlaamp area) then from intercooler through up to inlet manifold. if all is ok, get a manual pressure gauge on the take off port at rear of inlet manifold should be a pipe blocked off with a rubber bung (lh side back of manifold) (lh side is gear box side of engine) drive car an see what the gauge reads. if it is registering boost then is often the manual boost transducer module on the right hand wheel arch by the cam belt cover that is not working so boost is there just does not register in the car.full boost is not achieved until car is at normal operating temp. if no boost turbo may need checking for wastegate operation or damage on the exhaust side. Hope this helps

2006 PT Cruiser turbo backfiring etc

Hello. It seems your PT Cruiser might have low fuel pump pressure. This will cause a backfire/misfire condition upon 'mild' acceleration. 'Gentle' acceleration, your car will run 'decent'. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

Thanks Terry. The car does not have full power.

Are you getting turbo boost pressure, waste gate may be open check waste gate actuator. Check that BOV is not stuck open you could clean with some throttle body cleaner. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=govRsNtY8DM

Hi I have an 08 vw jetta 125 tsi the turbo doesn't

I would check the pressure blow off valve to see if it is stuck partially open. check hoses for holes or leaks where clamped. Also if you have a inter cooler for this turbo check it for cracks or leaks a pressure check of air to the cooler then spray with soapy solution to look for bubbles no bubbles after cooler good.

Turbo not kicking in like it should cant find no leaking pipe and turbo seems to be working fine

In general the possible causes could be:
- Boost pressure sensor harness is open or shorted
- Boost pressure sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty boost pressure sensor
- Faulty Turbo/Super Charger
- Engine over temperature.
- Ignition misfire exceeds the calibrated threshold.
- Faulty Knock sensor (KS)

I would doubt its the turbo as you said it seems to be working just fine (unless the wastegate is stuck open/wastegate seal is cracked). Also if the ignition misfire exceeds the claibrated threshold then I would think you'd hear that in the engine running normally. I would say locate the sensor and replace it?

Hope this helps

How to recognize if my turbo is causing blue smoke from the exhaust vs a blown head gasket. I don't have anti freeze mixed with my oil but it smoke coming out the exhaust when the car is running. ...

It's very simply to find out if the turbocharger is causing blue smoke from the exhaust vs a blown head gasket. So, remove the turbocharger's compressor inlet centre hose (from the aluminium side of the turbo). Then see if there's in plenty of oil coming out from the hose and from the turbo. I'm 100% convinced that the turbocharger is damaged in your case. You can remove also the exhaust pipe out from the turbocharger, and see if there's a lot of oil coming out.
Repair or replace bad turbocharger with a new one (or with a second hand in good condition one). Good Luck!

Well i have a porsche cayenne turbo the switches in the drivers panel work opposite that is i press passengers then drivers window goes down even the mirrors i bought two front door modules coded them n it...

Well my first suggestion is: live with it, because everything is working and moving your finger by half an inch doesn't seems so bad to me.

Otherwise I would visit the nearest Porsche Center and explain them the Problem, they will connect your Car with a Computer an know in an instant whats wrong with it.

Turbo

if the performance is the same but no kick when the revs start to rise, it could be the internals of the turbo are worn out, have you had abnormal whistling from the turbo which indicate worn bearings, turbo's last around 100,000 miles before having to be rebuilt, the turbine wears out eventualy as well as the bearings
