In most cases the block heater would have been a dealer installed item. If your car has one installed, you can find it by looking at the engine for the wiring or plug/ in cord. If one was installed and the cord is missing look at the engine block for a round connector mounted right into the block of the engine, look for the two connectors that the cord will plug into. they look like this --- Does a 1997 Geo Tracker - mcneb_13.jpg

Each vehicle can have a block heater. Block heaters are not always installed on vehicles. Sometimes the dealer will install them sometimes the customer has to ask for one at his own expense. To answer your question if you can't find the wire going to the block heater chances are that it does not have one.

Wouldn't have been standard on this model, but if it does have one you'll see a regular 120 volt wall plug somewhere near the front bumper. Might have to lay down on the ground and look up to see it, but if it has a block heater it will be there.

SOURCE: heat coming from1997 geo tracker & front tires

sounds like you have a brake claiper piston not return causing the brake pads to drag, jack up both wheels and spin to see if you can feel or hear drag, give the wheel a hard spin and see if it stops right away or seems to spin freely, could be the drag of the pads on the rotor, or wheel bearings need repack or even as much as brake residual fluid pressure on calipers cuased by improper brake mc pushrod adjustment, if you have had any recent brake work like a MC replacement it could be that it was not properly adjusted as far as pedal free play... check those.. please let me know if this helps, rate my help...thanks

SOURCE: Grinds on start 1997 Geo tracker; will not start

If you are sure that your battery and charging system are functional then you have what is termed a "fielding" situation inside your starter. This is caused by the front, and or rear, bearings having worn to a point where the armature of the starter actually comes in contact with the field windings surrounding it. This will gennerally occur when the engine/starter is warm. If your vehicle turns over normally when cold than you can be certain that my diagnosis is 100%. The only resolution is a new starter. Thank you, Dana
