My 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse has been shifting funny. I particularly notice it when driving through town when I start to slow down, and then speed back up. It started making the noise within the first 30 days I bought the car. I took it back to the dealer, and they told me it needed a transmission flush and that my warranty would not cover it. I got my fluid changed and the car ran better for about 6 months. Now, the shifting noise is back and it even seems to be hitting the gears kinda hard at times. It drives great on the interstate. I inquired about a transmission flush, but, nobody seems to think this will solve the problem. What would you suggest?

u check the fluid by taking off the fill bolt and putting your finger in if u can touch fluid ur good if not u should add some. u can buy a tube from a parts store. it screws onto the top of the bottle and u let it go in.

Mitsubishi Eclipse, 5 speed man. trans - Won't shift after driving 20 minutes...

indicates a problem in the spigot bush in the crank shaft
it is dry and when it heats up , it is seizing on the input shaft(clutch shaft) of the transmission
up shifting is fairly easy as the hear synchro's do the job along with correct engine rpm
down shift overloads the synchro action unless you increase the rpm to match the ration to road speed

I was told by a Chrysler tech that it's the shift solenoid located in the trans. pan. There are 4 of them and you have to have it checked to see which one. You don't want to replace all 4. About $80.00 at a dealer! Mine does the same thing. 2004 Concorde lxi.

Sounds like a bad speed sensor. Perform an ODBII scan soon. ECU should delay upshift until coolant temp senses warm up. It will not work right unless a signal is present from speed sensor.

02 Mitsubishi Eclipse heater gets hot only when in motion

Does your engine temperature guage read normal? Have you checked your coolant level? This can be the result of a partially seized thermostat... there is also a valve in the heater core lines that can seize partially closed. As the engine speed increases, the water pump can force more water through the partially closed component.
