Moisture in ignition system

Step 1 is to find out which plug is not firing, easiest way is scan the PC & get readings. Or ck for spark at each plug. May have to pull plugs if all are firing,could be coilpack, wires, plugs. Find out where u are losing the spark.

The moisture coming out of tailpipe is normal until the car is fully warmed up

Open the hood and let the engine dry, water has entered the ignition systen causing the car to misfire. Check for moisture at spark plugs, remove distributor cap and spray with q20 or a moisture dispersant spray

You have allowed water to get into electrical connectors and ignition components and it is shorting out the ignition to plugs spark.

Dry and clean every plug/connector/socket you can find. The coil pack probalby is shorting spark to ground from under the coil pack towers. pull each wire and blow out with an air line and/or spray with WD40 to displace moisture.

WD40 is so called because WD stands for Water Displacement.

Hello: Check the complete ignition system for moisture ie; plug wires, dist cap both outside and inside, rotor. If its a v/6 check the coil packs etc.

If your air filter is not fresh, the difference in the weather conditions actually causes the air filter to restrict the flow of air into the engine just enough that the super sensitive system you are driving notices it.

There are also other sensors that pick this up causing a performance change in the operating system. If your filter has recently been changed then of course other than being soaked with water in freezing temperatures, this shouldn't be a factor. Just a consideration:

this is also a sign of the car going into the "limp" operation and could also be caused by something getting wet, such as the ignition system. Double check your seals and panels that block moisture from your engine components. Wiring can be sprayed with sealers to help in preventing excessive moisture if your wiring is showing any age.

Yes fine cracks in the outside housing allows moisture to enter and disrupt electrical current with corrosion and oxidation of the metal components including the circuitry.

It is stamped on the top of the engine, in the head. It is usually pretty easy to find, and you wont have to remove any pieces to see it.

The 3.5L (VIN H) engine's unique ignition system has the ignition coils directly over each plug. No spark plug wires are used.




3.5L (VIN H) engine Firing order: 1-2-3-4-5-6 Distributorless Ignition System



The firing order for the 3.1L VIN M, 3.4L VIN E, 3.4L VIN X and 3.5L VIN H engines is 1-2-3-4-5-6. The right bank cylinders are on the cowl side (rear) of the engine compartment and are numbered 1,3,5, left bank cylinders on the front side of the vehicle, are numbered 2,4,6.

3.4L (VIN E) engine Firing order: 1-2-3-4-5-6 Distributorless Ignition System




The firing order for the 3.8L VIN K and 3.8L VIN 1 engines is 1-6-5-4-3-2. Starting at the front of the engine, cylinders in the left bank are numbered 1,3,5 and cylinders in the right bank are numbered 2,4,6.

Ok this may be something smal that may be simple to fixs; your plugs are in the wrong cylinder?

Check Your gap size .060 (In thousandths of an inch)

Im not sure of the size of engine please look below for your make?
