First, make sure the battery is hooked up correctly, and that the negative cable is secured to the engine block. Check all your fuses. If the fuses are ok, and the battery cable are hooked up right, pos. or + cable to the starter, and neg. or - to ground, then I would have the battery checked. If possible, try another battery. Don't use jumper cables. If the battery is bad, jumper cables would not work.

Key turns and there is just a clicking noise

make sure your battery connections are clean, and tight, also on the solenoid, if you have bright lights, solenoid or starter problems.

We have an 87 4Runner. We replaced the turbo 4cyl

It should only start in P and N. Is this a 4 wheel drive? Check the transfer case if it is. If not check to make sure torque converter bolts were put in. If they weren't it won't do anything.

1992 Toyota 4runner wout start

if you don't get a click at all, your starter may be losing it's solenoid. there's a panel in the right fenderwell that the starter is behind. get that panel off and lightly tap the starter with something. if it fires right up, the solenoid is sticking.

Dash board light came on, says ETC PWR?

"ETC PWR" means the "power mode" switch on the tranny is on. this lets the tranny rev above 3000 RPM, and is normal. look for a button near the center console and punch it. as for running rough, have someone check to make sure a coule of wires didn't get switched. also, you shoulda changed the plugs, too.
