    Where can I purchase a keyless remote? I bought a 2005 XL.7.

  • chiquichin Mar 27, 2009

those instructions are the ones that come in the manual. i have a 2008, same keyless system and instructions but didn't work. I read somewhere else that this needs to be done by the dealer. Anyone successfuly reprogrammed their keyless with this instructions? pls share.

Took my 2007 XL7 to the dealer for 3,000 mile service. One remote did not work, the other did. Dealer replaced remote, but said they could not program it. I read the manual and followed the steps above, and the remote was programmed. A few months later, the other remote didn't work. Tried the same procedure, did not work. Called dealer and was told they would need to contact Suzuki for info. Never got back to me. Used the one remote that worked for 2 years. Now neither remote works. Go figure. Tried to "learn remote" several time, several days, etc. Nothing works. I've had it. Turning the car in at lease end, and will not miss the service from Suzuki dealers. The car itself is not bad. Inexpensive AWD, service SUCKS.

I bought a remote the other day and got these instructions with it. They worked!

1. Make sure vehicle is in Park
2. Press Vehicle Information button (has the icon of a car and an 'i')until 'PRESS *check mark* TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY' displays.
3. Press set/reset button. The message 'REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE' will display.
4. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter at the same time for about 15 seconds. A beep will sound indicating that the transmitter is matched.
5. To match additional transmitters at this time, repeat Step 3. Each vehicle can have a maximum of four transmitters matched to it.
6. To exit the program mode, you must cycle the key to LOCK.

Simo doesn't know what he's talking about. I just did it through the on board menu. I programmed 4 keys and the work fine.

Press the little button that has a picture of a the vehicle and the letter "i" scroll through until you get it talked about the remote option in the dash. Once this happens press the "check" button. At this point hold and a do not release both the lock and the unlock button simutaniously. You will hear one beep and then after 15 seconds or so you will hear another beep. the remote should work.

I work in a Suzuki dealer shop, and I tell you, there's no way to program a key yourself. The only way is with SDT (Suzuki Diagnose Tester) and a special key-programming module.

How Do I Know If My Car Equipped With A Keyless Entry Remote System? I have a 1999 Ford Windstar. I bought several remotes but can't get my locks to engage. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Cathy

It does indeed have keyless entry. It needs reprogramming when you get a new remote. Also if you disconnect the battery. Usually a local car alarm fitting shop, or an auto-electrician will do it. Plus of course a Ford dealership.

Reprogram remote

xl-7 programming instructions first you need to stuff your head up under the dash and locate your module drivers side upper corner under dash does it say programmable transmitter (the first models had no programable modules) if it says that then......
1 confirm all doors are shut and key is out of ignition
2 open drivers door insert key and turn to on within 10 sec
3 turn ignition switch to off in 10 sec
4 push and release drivers door switch 3 times in 20 sec
5 turn ign. switch to on in 10 sec
6 turn ign. switch to off in 10 sec
7 press and hold lock and unlock button on transmitter for 5 sec within 20 sec of step 6 alldoors will lock/unlockto confirm correct process
8 press lock unlock buttons on second remote within 5 sec after step 7 once again all doors will lock/unlock to confirm
9 to add another remote up to a max of four repeat steps 1 through 8 this was taken directly out of an owners manual supplement that comes with a new keyless entry kit (part number for a xl-7 or grand vitara can't remember which one it goes to but it works on either one is 84900-67810) which you would have to purchase if yours is not programable these instructions are the same for vitara, grand vitara, xl-7 and the esteem hope this helps
