My 2006 kia rio 5 has and intermittant engine miss. It never misses when the engine is cold, but once it warms up it will miss at idle and the check engine light will flash until the engine is reved up again. It also misses while underload , but this only happens on occasion. This happened once before back in october. The mechanic said it was a dead spark plug. The plugs were replaced and the miss went away.... for only 2 months... could it be the plugs again? or cpu or O2 sensor, or fuel filter instead. please help..

Tach works off the crank sensor. Threw the ECU. Have the codes read. A bad crank sensor will cause misfires also. But so will the ECU.

All of this suggests bad sensors. I would check the engine codes and try again!

Check for fault codes . You probably have a failing coil or faulty air ambient temp sensor or engine temp sensor faulty.

Has it ever been tune up,

It can be issue with IAC( idle air control valve) causing the problem.

There are many other possibilities causing these idle issues. Engine idles rough.

It can be issue with low fuel pressure,the fuel pump is getting old both needs to be checked.Also get the IAC valve checked.

Could be a vac leak or other ignition problem.
A vac leak could be covered up by the extra fuel and higher idle speed when the engine is cold. And if it is a gasket leaking the leak can get bigger as the engine warms up.
A faulty plug wire or coil could start failing when hot.
A solid miss-fire should make the check engine light come on and set a trouble code.

check your distributor cap may need replacement also other components to check spark plugs and wires good luck

Intake air temp sender or coolant temp sensor.
