Air conditioner 1993 civic was converted to R134. During hot weather months, a/c will not cool at idle and takes a while after driving to cool down. Cools fine in the morning and cooler months. Is this related to the condenser being too small for the R134 conversion or something else. Compressor has been replaced recently.

You might be losing A/C R134. You can buy a test kit and new R134 at a parts and the tster will tell you how much R134 you have in your system and you can recharge it at the same time if you need it --Good Luck

The noise is probably the compressor. Maybe the belt could be loose or worn. You may be low on freon. Start with the easy one, check the belt, then freon. Good luck!

PROBLEMS LISTED BELOW!!

Air conditioner: If the air conditioner gradually stops cooling and/or the airflow from the vents decreases, the computer (PCM) may not be sending a signal to the compressor clutch relay to cycle off, which causes the AC evaporator to freeze up. (1991-95)

Automatic transmission: If the transmission will not engage when first started, chances are the torque converter is draining down. Chrysler will correct the problem by installing a check valve. (1993)

Automatic transmission: If the transmission won't upshift in cool weather, it is probably due to defective cast iron seal rings in the governor drive. (1992-94)

Engine fan noise: In warm weather, the fan makes a roaring sound. Dodge will replace the fan, the fan clutch, and, on max cooling systems, the radiator cap. (All)

Exhaust backfire: Exhaust backfire and/or a popping noise in the exhaust may be caused by a defective Powertrain Control Module. (1994-95)

Oil leak: Rear main seals on 2.5- and 4.0-liter engines are prone to leakage. To prevent future failures, Chrysler has a rubber plug available that goes in a hole above the starter that protects the rear main seal. (1996)

Oil leak: Oil leak at the filter on 3.9-, 5.2-, and 5.9-liter engines is likely due to a warped adapter plate. (1995)

Oil pump: Oil pump gear wear results in bucking and surging when the engine is warm and lack of lubrication when the engine is cold. (1992-93)

Rough idle: Because of a problem with the idle air control motor, the engine idles rough, stalls at low speeds or when decelerating, especially in warm weather. (1992-94)

Suspension noise: Front ball joints wear prematurely forcing relacement of lower control arm as well. Replacement joint with grease fitting is now available. (1990-96)

Transaxle leak: Automatic transmission fluid leaks from the speed sensor in the transmission. (1994)

Water leak: The roof seams leak water that seeps down behind the dashboard onto the floor. (1993-95)

How to put aircondition prion for 1993 honda

Take your car to a specialist and have them check your system for leaks ot other problems. They can then recharge the system if everything checks our. The old Freon leaked out for a reason. If you don;t fix the problem, anything new you put in will just leak out again within a few months or perhaps weeks. Additionally, they've switched from R12 to R134 and your vehicle might need to be converted to handle R134.

Air Conditioner quites during idle

our car will do this, if the car is in idle and not reving or in drive the clutch will disingage the ac fan as not to burn it out.....in idle it gets very hot....and usually the air comming across the coils helps to keep the systems cooler....it's a good possibility it's because your car uses the r135 or r134 coolant and not the r12 coolant, they are trying to keep the r12 off the shelves for non industrial use....hope this helps you....shia

2003 Honda Civic runs hot when idling.

Check the cooling fan switch. It appears your auxiliary electric cooling fan isn't going on when at idle. and engine temp increases. While you are driving, air is being rammed thru your radiator as you cruise along, so it isn't overheating, at idle, that isn't happening, and the fan should go on as the temp goes up. When the ac is switched on, the fan is being signaled to operate due to the heavy ac load on the cooling system.
