Changing the power steering belt on a 94 privia

These are very simple. Belt, fluid and pump, actuation valve on rack and pinion. Make sure that there is pressure on the actuator. Jack up front end and look for ability to move.

Water pump or pulley most likely.

Always replace water pump and pulleys when you do the timing belt.

Also you may have overtightened the belt.

NOTE, Kevlar belts will make a "whirring" noise for a few thousand miles after replacement, but not a growling.

not on a 94 vehicle ,20 years is no surprise things starting to fail , its an easy enough repair

Does the power steering have fluid in it. Is the belt on the pump. With it running take the cap off of the pump and see if fluid is moving around. If u feel the steering knucle is to tight u can also take the tie rod off and see if it turns free. Also go back to who fixed it and say its not right, Make it right. Most garages give 12 month or 12.000 mile warranty.

you need a long 3/8 wretched with long handle the tentsioner that is located under the power steering pump has a hole that the wretched fits into you take the tension out and pull the belt out ;




note berry important to see the way the belt is warped o round so u can put it back

that's not possible all of those vehicles came stock with power steering so all belt dimensions are taking the power steering pump into consideration,the only one that would change would be the A/C belt depending on whether or not your vehicle came with it or not,a used power steering pump should only cost just a little bit more then a new serpentine belt,hope this helps and good luck

make sure the return hose for the power steering is good and the drive belt is good if the car has over 40,000 Miles on it i would change the belt as well Happy Holidays as always wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

?? I looked at a couple of pics on line and it looks like the power steering pump is on it's own belt. May be the A/C compressor but I'm not sure.

check belt tensioner pulley for worn bearings.check that belt is not worn beyond serviceable length,has cracks or is frayed.

only 2 bolts. They are hard to get to at the back of the engine but one is the mounting one and the other is the locking one for the adjuster once you get them lose you can undo the adjuster bolt and take tension off of belt then pull it off and replace it.
