Well u talking about compatibility of old ford cars. so its better if u check with a dealer.
Now not quite sure here and i assume your in america for this borg warner unit as they were extensively used on cars like the old rover which was then called british leyland so it would appear across the range on rover ,austin ,triumph also the old jaguars as well ,but i think you would have to change the bell housings ,These gearboxes were not difficult to repair for things like clutch linings and brake bands as any reconditioning shop for brakes and clutches should be be able to cut some ferodo material and fit for you but the rest of it ?? i wouldnt know if any parts are still available .Now as for converting it to a manual then this isnt a problem providing you get the flywheel with the gearbox and all the gearchange linkage and if possible the prop as well as it could be a different length but again any decent engineering shop could extend or shorten this for you providing you have the right end of the prop that fits into the gearbox .As for knowing exactly what is what i wouldnt know because being a europeon mechanic i have never seen this vehicle that you own.
