This is a very common problem on all chevy trucks for this year. The door lock solenoids are integrated into the door latch assembly, and are notoriously weak. They will work fine sometimes, others they just seem to barely move or not at all. You will need to replaced the door lock / latch assembly for the affected door.

The part cost is $104.65 and the labor time for each door is .7 hours. This should fall under warranty claim if your vehicle is still covered under the manufacturer's warranty. I have had two go out on the front doors in less than a month apart. Like SILVERADOH said "they are notoriously weak. They work fine sometimes....or not at all." Contact GM dealer for questions and reporting this issue may get a recall if there is enough of us complaining. It could be considered a saftey issue that would warrant a recall. Very dissappointed with this truck...I have been an avid GM customer for over twenty years. But this is the worst vehicle I have ever bought.

I experienced the same problem with my 2008 Silverado. Driver door lock stopped working so I replaced the actuator myself to save the $95 per hour labor charge from the dealer. I've also had to replace the power mirror switch on the drivers side. Now my power mirrors are failing, one power window is failing, and I've already had both front door speakers fail. I've had the door panels off so much I can do it in my sleep! GM put the cheapest electronic components they could find in these trucks. They last until the warranty expires.

I agree. My 2008 Silverado is not half the truck my 2006 was. Thanks for the info. I am going to have to change both of my front door parts.

Please realize how much these actuators work.Everytime you go from P to D they lock and unlock ,these actuators work more than you realize,it is a safety so that someone does not just jump in your vehicle at a stop light ect.You can go to a dealer and have the locks re-programmed for a fee and lock them when you want them locked

Probably is the actuator. Common problem. The actuator is part of the complete door latch. Hopefully that is what you got from 'Dorman'.

Check movement of vent doors on that side. Sounds like they aren't moving over as they should. (Or hose fell off on passenger side.)

Driver side door lock will not lock electronically

It is the door lock actuator and its real easy their are a few cover plates on trim remove and take out the srews then take off the interior mirror cover / then take the door panel lift upwards and out the after you get the trim panel off the latch has three bolts on outer take those out and disconnect rods be careful they dont break and just reverse it to put it back together
