What does it mean if i have cam censor failure,

It does not have a Cam sensor. I would check for vacuum leaks around the area where the intake manifold bolts to the head. Very common for them to leak.

What is the RPM at and how long does it stay there. How long has it been doing this? Is the check engine light on?

Emissions its to do with your exhaust system you may have a leak or your O2 censor may be faulty

How do you know if any parts are needed?

What OBD Codes did you have?

Who component tested a system, to find a fault
& failed part?

Surely your not going to throw parts at the unknown !!

You can google your locations,install your parts & still have the
same problem,good luck with that

Codes for that sensor, do not mean you replace it

Could very well be, an internal mechanical problem,
on a 17 year old vehicle,so be careful

My money goes toward someone not being able to

A 1997 model uses a distributor which serves the same purpose as a cam sensor would.

You read the output signal with a live data scanner, that is the only reliable way.

i have had the dist caps on those throw me a couple times

the censor is in the front of the motor.just follow the 2wires that come out of the timeing belt cover.they are labled the crank censor should say (csp) you will need too remove the top part of your timeing belt cover.very easy only 3 bolts holding it in place.doing mine rite now.the censor was 129 at autozone.good luck

Crank sensor is right behind your harmonic balancer (3 or 4 pin connector). You cam sensor is in your distributor under your rotor...

The 3.9L 5.2L and 5.9L engine use the distributor assembly as your cam sensor . The crank sensor is on right rear attached to engine block (behind cylinder head)
