Feel the 2 tubes at the firewall for the heater core. If they are not getting hot, the heater core needs to be flushed out or replaced. I had this problem with a 1990 Cadilac Deville, it was just a plugged up heater core.

Remember to install sealant after flushing out the system to prevent leaks.

2000 Oldsmobile Alero losing water and running hot.

A worn water pump is the most likely. If the coolant is going down, the water is going somewhere.

The most common reasons an Oldsmobile Alero is overheating are a coolant leak (water pump, radiator, hose etc.), the radiator fan, or a failed thermostat. Coolant leak (water pump, radiator, hose etc.)

Oldsmobile Alero Overheating - RepairPal

Videos on overheating. You probably have air in the system from when you replaced the thermostat. The coolant system needs 'burping' of air.

I had the water pump replaced. Is there a relay or a valve that controls the heater, or would a thermostat control it???

i didn't see you last posting about your water pump but theres is a tiny radiator called a heater core. it has the same hot water running through it as your big radiator and engine have.so when you turn your thermostat to hot and kick on the fan the fan blows through the heater core and wallaa you have heat you probably need a thermostat.if you have no heat and it is overheating hear and there that's probably what you need.make sure you see if you filled the radiator up all the way when you changed the water pump.

IM REPLACING THE RADIATOR,WATER PUMP AND THERMOSTAT,THE WHOLE COOLING SYSEM,SHOULD I DO THE RADIATOR FIRST OR THE WATER PUMP?

If you are doing them all at the same time, do the water pump first. I like to do the toughest part first and then move on the the easier parts. Then the thermostat and then the radiator. Once you drain the radiator most of the engine coolant will come out making the waterpump easier to clean up. If you are doing them in different day's, alway's replace the waterpump and thermostat in pairs. If you can do the radiator at the same time, I would suggest that. Sometimes when thermostats get out of fluid, they sometimes will lock up and cause and overheat. Then you are replacing all the fluid and thermostat on a hot engine.

Why does my 2001 cadillac deville keep running hot. ive changed the water pump and the thermistat

Well there could be a couple of problems if you live in a hot place you should change the thermostat to a lower tempatured one so the water will circulate sooner that will help it run cooler if that doesn't do it it might need the radiator flushed.

My retired uncle has a 97 cadillac deville sts that runs well but after a short distance or time idling begins to overheat. He has replaced the water pump, thermostat and had the radiator and head gasket checked. Unfortunately he lives in a rural area and there is no local cadillac dealership for diagnostic repairs.
