93 CHEVY 4X4 350 - RUNS FINE EXCEPT WHEN IDLING IN GEAR FOR AT LEAST 15 SECONDS IT STARTS TO HAVE AN INTERMITTENT MISSFIRE. ONE HICCUP, THEN FINE FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN MAYBE TWO. ITS NOT A BIG PROBLEM BUT IRRETATING WHEN SITTING AT A LONG STOPLIGHT. PROBLEM STARTED WHEN NEW MOTOR WAS INSTALLED, ALL NEW PLUGS AND WIRES, CAP AND ROTOR, DISTRIBUTOR. I SWAPPED ALL PARTS BACK OUT AND STILL DOES IT.

Check the injectors. They are really bad about leaking on the 4.3's.

CODE 43 IS ELECTRONIC SPARK CONTROL -.KNOCK SENSOR.LOOKS LIKE ALTERNATOR NOT PUTTING OUT ENOUGH VOLTS TO CHARGE BATTERY.YOU NEED 13.5 TO 14.5 VOLTS.CHECK ALTERNATOR FUSE AND ELECTRICAL WIRES.MAKE SURE BELTS NOT SLIPPING.IF ALL IS GOOD.REMOVE ALTERNATOR.LET AUTO ZONE CHECK IT.TO MAKE SURE.TURN OFF RADIO BEFORE MOVING BATTERY CABLES.SO YOU WONT LOSE RADIO CODE.YOUR CAR IS NOT GOING TO RUN RIGHT IF THE ECM DONT RECEIVE 12 VOLTS OR 13 VOLTS.

SOURCE: Shakes while idling and sometimes stalls.

check for minor vacuum leak and map sensor,pcv,egr valve

My truck is a 95 chevy silverado 1500 it cuts off in 1st gear

Does it seem like when the engine is cold it runs ok, then when it reaches operating temp. it starts acting up? (poor acceleration, stalling) When I had that problem w/ my 93 K1500, it ended up being my oxygen sensor. (causing too rich of a mixture in the throttle body)

when the eml lght flashes it is normally detecting a missfire but could be an intermitant missfire as vw's also do this

you need to have the car read with a diagnostic computer

2003 Ford Focus will not idle

try cleaning the MAF Mass Air Flow sensor element wire in tube with a toohtbrush and carb cleaner carefully. It gets coated with a film. It is in air inlet hose and has a wiring connector on it. Then drive for 15 minutes so it can learn the clean MAF sensor. Is check engine light on?

Removal
  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Otherwise, you may need to adjust idle air control (IAC).

Loosing power at cruising speed

Hi. I have two Dynasty LE cars, (a 91 and a 93). Both have the 3.3 litre. The 1991 had almost the same problem as yours except it would only do it once the engine warmed up, (similar to your freeway issue, given distance and time for the engine to warm up to operating temp.) I had it in about three shops before the dealer found an intermittent fault with the cam and crank sensors. I replaced them and now it runs just fine. I hope this helps.
