Will try to assist you. #1 solution remove and replace the ignition switch.#2 try a 'Q' tip with super glue and insert the Q tip into the key switch and allow drying time to let the Q tip to dry onto the broken part of key to remove. but if the key was twisted in anger or frustration, this solution will not work, just to save you the time.only other altenative is to remove the key switch and install new one. only good news is this, if your key is solid metal and no plastic, theres no computer issues with replacing the ignition switch.otherwise with plastic end on the thumb side,$75.00 and you would have to order the key from dealer only with the cars vin# and deposit up front and 2 day wait. if you need assistance removing the steering column to replace that switch, please repost your questions to fixya.com.

I have a 2003 gran prix gt and my ignition will only turn half way back when i turn the key off. i have to wiggle it to get the key out. you can also start the car without the key in the ignition. what...

Could be a problem with the cable to the shifter. The shifter is supposed to be in park to lock the ignition switch and remove the key.
Could also be something jammed in the lock cylinder.

1996 ford taurus ignition switch does not work no resistance when turning the key in the on or off position.

It sounds as if the rod or ignition key gear may be broken. The ignition switch is actually on top of the steering colume under the dash. The key turns a gear that is connected to a rod. The rod travels down to the actual electrical ignition switch. If you are not feeling any tension at all when you turn the key, either the rod or gear has broken. In either case the steering wheel all the way down to the key tumblers will need to taken apart. Hope this helps.

How to remove broken key from the ignition switch of a 1996 Mitsubishi eclipse Turbo?

e
if it's broken off just to the inside of the ignition, try using two sewing needles. use them like prybars one on each side. even try a strong magnet. duct tape pushed into the lock to the key might even work. if know one knows but you and you can still start and lock and unlock the car why worry.

Also can review this TIPS GUIDE

I hope helped you (remember rated this help) Good luck.

1996 key turns freely but will not shut off car

You have either a column geer broken or likage column problem-you key pulls out because your 10 cut ignition is also worn out a sepaerate issue. Your ignition is basically a male fitting into the column where all the gears and likage are. I as a locksmith would remove the ignition so i could look down and examine at least the ignition settings.

When i try to renove my key from the ignition of my 2003 ponitac gran prix sometimes it wont budge whats the problem

There are a few problems why this can happen. Most commonly there is a wire down by the bottom of the shifter that is broken. In the meantime, you can stick a small screwdriver through the hole under the steering column (you'll have to pull off the cover). This will push in the solenoid and allow you to remove the key. Your mechanic can diagnose the root problem.
